Lorenzo
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
My sleepy hand slap my phone, wanting to shut the annoying sound of my alarm but it only caused the phone to fall down from the bedside table. Cursing under my breath, I struggled to get up and search for it to turn it off.
I raised my arms and stretch the sleep out of me. I look to my side and scowled as I saw the soft sleeping form of my bed partner, Natalie. I must have been so out of it that I let her stay the night. I made a mental note to have Luca get rid of her later.
Getting up, I went straight to the shower.
Half an hour later, I'm already on the treadmill for my morning run. Foo Fighters blaring inside my eardrums as my feet steadily move in sync with the running belt.
My eyes remain steady, numbly gazing at the scene outside the floor-length window in front of me. The scene of the estate unfolds. Wide-open grassy fields with the occasional shady trees dotted the landscape. In the distance, I can see one of my men making his rounds. Our place is huge, surrounded by acres of forest land which makes it both hard to monitor and hard for anyone to accidentally discover the place. It is a world away from civilization.
A hand touched my shoulder, making me aware of the man standing next to me, Luca, one of my top enforcers.
I've known Luca since we were in diapers but we lost touch for a bit after I was sent away to school. He now works for the family, like his father before him.
"You're up early this morning" I nod, acknowledging his presence.
"Just thought you could use some company" He hop on the treadmill next to me.
"Oh, by the way, can you get rid of Natalie later? She's in my room"
"Man, if you don't want her there, you should have just fuck her somewhere else. Anywhere else."
I just shrugged at his comment.
"So, is your lady friend approved of your lifestyle?"
"Which lady friend?"
"The one in the attic. She doesn't get out much, does she?"
"She's fine with it," Because there really is nothing between us. But of course, I couldn't say that to Luca.
"Did you fuck her so hard till she can't even walk out of her room" He winks at me.
"She just prefers to be alone."
"So who is she? Where'd you meet her?"
"What'd you mean, Luca? What's with the twenty questions?" I can feel myself getting annoyed over his company. I should have gone for a run outside, at least it'll be harder for anyone to come up to me and try to strike up any kind of conversation.
