Capri
I look at my reflection in the floor length mirror.
I looked horrible.
Or more specifically, my dress looked horrible.
What was I thinking? I must have been insane when I thought this would look good on me. It doesn't, not on me or anybody sane on this fucking planet.
"Whoa! What the hell is that?"
I turned and saw my brother having the same reaction to my dress.
It's pink. Why on earth did I choose a pink dress? I look like I'm going to the prom. I have a ball tonight and it is definitely not a prom. This pink dress is going to make everyone thinks I'm just some ditzy girl. No one is going to take me seriously in pink.
"You look like a hooker." He said and I glared at Alex.
"You look like Julia Roberts from that movie when she played a hooker. Only, this is more hooker-ry" He clarified and I huffed. As much as I agree with his opinion, that is not going to solve the problem.
"Did you bring a back up dress?"
"No," I whined.
"Okay. Okay. We have time. It's only ten, the ball doesn't start till eight tonight. You can just go buy another one."
"Really? Do you think I haven't thought of that? We're in a strange city. We don't know anyone here, much less where to go to get me a dress that will knock the socks off everyone tonight."
Yup. Tonight I'm supposed to dress to impress. It's the mafia ball and it's a chance for Alex to show our allies that he is someone who can lead without our uncle. And I was going to reveal my identity as Capricorn to seal the deal. Once everyone realizes he's got the Capricorn by his side, they would see that he is a force to be reckoned with. But for now, I need a dress that won't make me look like a fucking teenager.
We end up asking Mr. Google to locate the best dress shop. Yeah, it's sad. But I'm desperate. Fortunately, the second shop looks promising.
I'm now in the dressing room, trying out a few dresses while Alex waits outside.
"Anna. You okay in there?" He called out from outside the room.
"Yeah. I think I might go with the red one." I yelled back at him as I swayed in front of the full length mirror, trying to get a feel of the dress I'm trying out.
"Okay. So you're good then. I need to go somewhere but I'll leave two guards out here for you, okay?"
"Okay. I'll see you back at the hotel." Nope. This black dress definitely feels off. The previous red dress feels more like my style.
I take off the black dress that I'm wearing, thinking I'm going to try out the red one again, just to be sure.
As I was about to hang the dress, someone slipped into the dressing room.
