Capri

The elevator opens to the door of my new home—a place I have yet to see with my own eyes. The numerous photos that the decorator had sent me seem pleasant enough and considering her fee, I'm sure it'll be more than acceptable.

I sigh as I step towards the door. A dim light flickers from the thumbprint lock. This apartment complex is supposed to be a fortress, state of the art. Only housing the highest echelon of society. My new home.

I wonder if he'll be waiting for me. The last I heard from him was a week ago. He had gone ahead to set up our new place. I just hope everything is going according to plan. I wished we could have gone together but I still have some loose ties to take care of. Business that requires me to go off the grid for a few days.

I hesitate. Opening the door feels like something so definite. We're about to start a new chapter in our lives and to me, that chapter starts when I open this door. Can we actually make it? Will the walk along the rainbow continue for us? Or is this the beginning of the end?

I feel a slight pang of uncertainty. What if he hates the idea of us? We've never really discussed anything in detail. We were both just happy simply riding the high and now that something is finally about to change, a new path emerging, I'm dawdling.

Get your head together Capri. It'll be fine. Lorenzo loves you, and you love him, remember that. Whatever happens, we'll both be fine. More than fine. We're marvelous, magnificent, topnotch.

I place my finger on the pad and it dings cheerfully before the door unlocks.

Stepping in, I see the place in darkness. The sun had just left with her last rays in tow when I stepped out of the cab, so it made sense that I'd be greeted by a dark room.

I carefully took a few more steps in, trying to feel for the light switch on the wall but my fingers only met with a cool smooth surface. Cursing at my stupidity, I turn on my phone and switch the torchlight function on. I wave it around, seeking the square panel, then stop short at the figure standing by the floor length window.

"You're here. I thought... you're going to be late."

He steps forward towards me, his stride faster than mine, almost in urgency. Does that mean he misses me?

His palms immediately cup my face and his soft lips swoop in to embrace mine. I can feel the hunger and desperation in his touch and it made my heart flutter. It's going to be alright, I say to myself. Everything is going to be alright.

He lifts me up and brings me over to the couch. Positioning me to straddle on his lap while our lips continue to dance heatedly as we say hello to each other. My hands immediately went around his broad shoulder and his thick head of hair. Relishing the feel of his presence after a week of noncontact.

"I've missed you." He breathes out after what felt like the longest minute in history. His thumb brushes my cheek lovingly as our chest drums fast after our little make out session.
