Capri
I think I've been in the dark for years. But then again, time doesn't flow the same way when you're going through an outer body experience. Once my spirit decided to return to my body, I made it my mission to return to the world of the living.
It was hard trying to catch that first glimpse of what is out there, and it was worst trying to call out to anyone, to summon another person to recognize my return. I am alive and awake, dammit.
I don't know why I call out his name before others. Perhaps it was because he was on my mind before I lost it. But whatever the reason, he came. He actually heard me and rushed to my side. Seeing him gave me comfort, something I never realized I needed. Seeing him made me realize, I'm not in the dark anymore. He is my light, my beacon to salvation.
He helped me sit up and gave me some water to ease my dry throat.
"Lorenzo." I tested my voice and the word flow smoother, better than before. "What happened?" My voice is still hoarse but clearer.
"You have been asleep for five days, Capri. What was the last thing you remember, mi amour?"
"Did we go out to dinner?" my mind was still fuzzy but I remembered being excited about going out which is rare for me.
"No, I'm sorry. But I'll take you out another time when you feel better." He smiles at me. It was a sad smile, forced. I wish I could remember what happened. Did I do something wrong?
"You look terrible. Did something happen?" Noticing his unkempt look. I reached out to him, wanting to caress his face, to ease his burden. But my hands feel weak and heavy. All I could manage was to raise a few fingers.
"You should rest tesoro. I will get the doctor to check on you. We'll talk again once you feel much better."
He kisses my hand, holding it as if his life depended on it, then left before I could object.

It's been two days since I woke up. And for both days I rested in Lorenzo's room where he barely left me once, where I spent almost a week asleep while he waited for my return. They told me what happened and in a way, I guess I understood why Lorenzo was being clingy.
My strength has returned and I'm finally feeling like my old self. I don't think my first visit to the woods bore any fruit. At least none that I can recall. So I was itching to go try my luck again.
"Capri, you can't be serious. You could have died and you still want to go back there?" Lauren was totally against it. Typical Lauren. I rolled my eyes internally.
"I'd go with Lorenzo. I've done it before and I came out fine. You can go with me, right?" I turned to him, I already know he'd agree.
"Yeah, sure. Anything you want tesoro." He gave me a reassuring smile and gave my hand a squeeze. He's been very attentive toward me since I woke up. Always trying to do things for me before I even had a chance to ask for it. Following me like a puppy, like he was scared I would disappear again.
