Capri
The next morning, I came down looking for Lorenzo only to find out that he had already left.
That asshole.
I can't believe he just ran off like a little coward. I had planned on having the talk like a grown up about the kiss last night but he chose to avoid it and ran off to god knows where. Also, that shitface didn't bring me any treats like he had promised. Not to mention the fact that I also didn't get to ask him about the threat and most importantly, when can I leave this supposed safe house.
I don't know how much longer I can deal with being in that house. This waiting game is slowly draining the life out of me. Nine more days had passed and every day I found myself internally cursing him. Coming up with new words to berate him for my unfortunate situation, for the way he left me stranded in the middle of nowhere, and for the way he acted the last time we saw each other.
It was mid morning when I heard the car's tire screech to a stop in front of the house, I immediately jumped out and ran to the front door. Yup, that's how desperate I was for some outside contact, any kind of contact is fine by me. Even if I see Lorenzo again, I would forgive his sorry ass in a heartbeat if it meant there was a chance I would get out of here. It wasn't him by the way. It was Luca.
"Hey there beautiful."
I have never spoken to Luca before. But we have met in passing. Which makes his choice of words confusing to me.
"Uhh, hi." That was all I could think of as a response. "Did Lorenzo send you?"
"Yup. Good news, I'm here to escort you back. You're getting out of here princess. Go get your stuff, we're leaving as soon as you're ready."
He didn't have to say another word. I had my bags packed and brought down in record time. I couldn't wait to rejoin the civilized world. Adios stupid safehouse in a freakin wood where phones can never get a single signal. Hope we never have to meet again.
And for the first time in a long time, I had a grin plastered on my face so wide, I probably look like the joker.
"Is the threat gone? Did anyone attack the house?" I finally asked Luca.
We had been driving for close to two hours before I finally decided to ask about the elephant in the room.
"No one attacks us. But yes, the threat is gone."
"How?"
"We got word that the Serb was spying for the Irish. Those stupid fuckers heard that we've been upgrading our security so they thought we must have something to hide."
"So they break in to try to find out what we're hiding?" Luca nodded. "That's stupid. Wait, seriously, for real?" I asked again, his words don't quite make sense to me.
