...
"Princess Chaeyoung! May I ask why you are roaming around with this man?" Jongho eyed Yeosang.
"This man? He is the pr-" Chaeyoung was cut off by Yeosang, who had dismounted Midnight.
"HA! Jongho my friend!" Yeosang laughed nervously and put his arm around Jongho, allowing Jongho to tense up.
"Friend?" the princess hadn't been this confused before.
"Y-yeah" Yeosang looked at Chaeyoung with pleading eyes.
"O-oh. . . Jongho, you were friends with this fellow? He works at the palace, so he decided to show me around" the princess tried her best to go with which was hopefully Yeosangs cover. She glanced at Yeosang, whose relief was visible in his eyes. In Yeosangs eyes, she knew she had said the right thing.
"I told you didn't I? The prince personally asked me to take Her Highness on a little tour" Yeosang said and glanced at Jongho, who was still tensed up as Yeosang had his cold arm around his shoulder. Yeosang coughed and slipped his arm off of Jonghos shoulder.
"Y-yeah, you did" Jongho seemed like he finally came to his senses.
"I heard about the ball you told me about last time" Yeosang stated.
"Ball?" Chaeyoung asked as she too, slipped off of her horse.
"Yes, there would be a ball to commemorate your marriage to the prince" Yeosangs voice was shaky, he was saying and doing things against his will, all because his fathers never-ending greed to only allow his sons to sit upon the throne. Yeosang would wonder what his father had thought when he agreed with the Royal Advisor, to let the Fire Kingdom get involved with the throne.
"Oh. . ." Chaeyoung glanced at Jongho, and Yeosang noticed.
Was there something going on between them? Is that why Chaeyoung doesn't want marriage?, Yeosang thought, and to his own surprise, he was disappointed.
What if Jongho was her lover and she was his?, Yeosang started thinking against his will. Whywould I mind anyway?, he scoffed in his head.
"When will it be held?" his train of ridiculous thoughts was interrupted by Chaeyoung's soft yet mature voice.
"I'm not sure" Chaeyoungs voice was followed by Jonghos, allowing butterflies to flap against Yeosangs chest. He had no idea what was happening, so he decided to ignore the sudden feeling of tingles.
"Tomorrow," Yeosang said. "the ball is on the day after tomorrow"
"The palace must be busy right, Princess?" Jongho asked, bringing a soft smiled to Chaeyoungs face.
There it goes again, Yeosang thought as he inhaled a huge amount of air, trying to cool his insides. Hopefully it will freeze those tingles. This time, it wasn't the tickling tingles, but therough ones, as he were, JEALOUS? ME? NO Yeosang was taken aback by his thoughts.
"I don't actually know. Prince Yeosang, why don't you answer his question?" Chaeyoungs eyes widened as she realized that she had spoken so carelessly. "I-I meant, Yeosang might know because he knows the Prince" she bit her lip, hoping that Jongho won't take in what she said.
"Then you must know, right Yeosang?" Jongho asked.
Yeosang gulped and blinked at the mention of his own name, said by Jonghos honey-coated voice.
"It is quite b-busy" Yeosang chained his fingers together, keeping them from slapping himself for stuttering.
"Princess, may I accompany you during your tour?" Jongho too, didn't want Yeosang and the princess getting along. He didn't know why, but he was fine with Princess Chaeyoung running around with any other man, but he wasn't so sure about how he felt when he saw Yeosang with another girl.
"I would love to let you accompany us" Chaeyoung flashed a bright smile, but Jongho just bowed and helped her up on her horse. "Which horse will you ride on?"
Please not me, please not me, Yeosang prayed.
"I will ride upon Midnight. I do not want to make Your Highness any more uncomfortable" Jongho stated and hopped on Midnight, and looked ahead, avoiding Yeosang weird gaze.
Yeosang had no other choice, he was a prince. The crown prince of a Kingdom. He couldn't walk beside some other people, while another man was upon his royal horse. Yeosang mounted Midnight, behind Jongho, sitting as far away as possible.
Yeosang spared a glance at Chaeyoung, she bit her lip, but she was quick to replace her look of disappointment with a look of pride.
"Let us go" Jongho said and pulled at the reins.
Yeosang held on for dear life as Jongho fastened Midnights pace. He scooted forward, hoping to grab Jongho if he were to fall, so that they would fall together.
"Where to?" Jongho glanced but and tensed when he found his body really close to the latter. Yeosangs cold presence brought chills down his spine. Maybe it was the cold, or maybe it was Yeosang, he could not understand what this feeling was.
"We could roam around the forest" Yeosang cold breath slipped into Jonghos back through his jacket.
"Sure" Chaeyoung smiled, but her eyes told anyone that she wanted to be with Jongho, wrapping her arms around his sturdy waist.
Jongho lead them, more like Midnight led them, further into the forest. Tinkling of the frozen rain drops filling the air with music and the calm but howling cold wind surging past their ears.
As Jongho had slowed his pace, Yeosang would scoot a bit behind, not wanting to feel his random tingles when he was pressed against Jongho's warmth.
Jongho who noticed that Yeosang was no longer close to him, pulled the reins harder, quickening and hardening Midnights trots. Yeosang yelped and wrapped his arms tightly around Jonghos waist. He was supposed to die of tingles but he overcame death because of the sudden fear.
"Jongho! Do you not know how to ride a horse?! Pull the reins softly!" Yeosang yelled into Jonghos ear.
"I apologize Yeosang. . ." Jongho said, and kept his eyes on the path, smirking to himself and he felt Yeosang arms around him tighten. He tried to stay confident, hiding the red tint crawling upon his cheeks.
"I-I think we must go back" Chaeyoung couldn't bare to see her lover with someone else. She didn't want to make Jongho sad, she wanted him to be happy, but she just didn't want them to do all these in front of her.
"Why?" Yeosang asked.
"Must you not help with breakfast?" Chaeyoung asked.
"Yes, I should" Yeosang understood how she was feeling, he let go of Jonghos waist and steadied his position.
Did you have to ruin our moment, Princess?, Jongho rolled his eyes in his head.
