...
Yeosang saw him, he saw Jongho. He took a deep breath. So this is how he gets to know the truth? On my engagement ball?
His thoughts were bitter and he himself couldn't even imagine how betrayed Jongho must feel. He had comforted Yeosang only to find out that he was a Prince. Not just a normal one, but the crowned prince of one of the two most powerful kingdoms in all of Wonderland.
Jongho's face was painted in shock as Yeosang descended the stairs, taking one step at a time, careful and graceful. He didn't want to mess up. He wanted to show his best image, but Jongho was watching and all he could be was nervous and guilty.
Jongho on the other hand, was shocked, yes obviously, but he was more guilty. He had called an Imperial Prince a "Snowboy" and had talked to him in such a disrespectful way. He had loved his princess's future husband and had almost kissed the other. He wanted to fall on his knees so bad that his knees almost gave away.
Yeosang took a deep breath and shot a little smile at Jongho which he meant as an apology.
The afternoon turned into night as everyone chattered and clinked glasses. Jongho's head hung low as he hopped on his horse and trotted towards where he felt most comfort and happy. He didn't want to see Yeosang's engagement nor the exchanging of rings, so he went away, hoping that no one would look for him.
He stopped by the dark frozen lake and sat by it, staring off into an abyss of black. He had rejected the princess only for Yeosang, and now he had realized that the person Yeosang was to marry unhappily was the princess. To the princess he had failed as a friend and as the person she loved, and to Yeosang, he had failed as his lover.
The wind was howling past his ears and the time was passing by. He wondered if anyone was looking for him in this late hour. About to go back to the palace, he heard the familiar jingle of someone's horse.
"Jongho," a deep voice said. "I was looking all over for you" the person dropped off of his horse and approached the other.
"Prince Yeosang" Jongho immediately fell on one knee, making Yeosang step back with a soft gasp. "What brings you here?" he didn't dare to lift his head.
"Jongho please, don't behave like this" Yeosang sounded so pained. He had feared this day and had dreaded its arrival more than anything. "I don't want to be a prince in your eyes"
Jongho reluctantly stood back up and looked at Yeosang. The latter was breathtakingly gorgeous under the little moonlight they got.
"I'm very sorry for disrespecting you, Prince-" he was cut off as Yeosang ran into his arms, embracing Jongho in a tight hug.
"Please don't call me that. You're the last person I would want to hear calling me that" Yeosang snuggled his head into Jongho.
