Chapter 25 - Collapse

I had found Councilwoman Hawley and showed her evidence of Hydra in Shield. I swapped outfits with her and advised her to get far away, luckily she was very understanding and really liked Nat and I.

I put on a Photostatic Veil that makes me look and sound just like her.

I meet up with the other council members and walk into Shield behind Pierce, "And how was your flight?" He asks.

"Lovely. The ride from the airport, less so." I nod.

"Sadly, Shield can't control everything." Pierce nods.

"Including Captain America."

Pierce stops by a guard and grabs a small case with pins. "This facility is biometrically controlled. And these will give you unrestricted access." I take one and pin it on my suit. We take a short elevator ride to a large room where we could see the carriers."I know the road hasn't exactly been smooth, and some of you would have gladly kicked me out of the car along the way. Finally, we're here. And the world should be grateful." We all raise our champagne glasses and take a sip, except for me.

I look up as I hear Steve's voice. "Attention all Shield agents, this is Steve Rogers. You've heard a lot about me over the last few days. Some of you were even ordered to hunt me down. But I think it's time you know the truth. Shield is not what we thought it was. It's been taken over by Hydra. Alexander Pierce is their leader." We turn to look at him. "The Strike and Insight crew are Hydra as well. I don't know how many more, but I know they're in the building. They could be standing right next to you. They almost have what they want. Absolute control. They shot Nick Fury. And it won't end there. If you launch those helicarriers today, Hydra will be able to kill anyone that stands in their way. Unless we stop them. I know I'm asking a lot. But the price of freedom is high. It always has been. And it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one, then so be it. But I'm willing to bet I'm not."

"You smug son of a bitch."

I look up as the Strike team comes in, "Arrest him." One council member points.

One soldier aims his pistol at us, "I guess I have the floor....Let me ask you a question. What if Pakistan marched into Mumbai tomorrow and you knew that they were going to drag your daughters into a soccer stadium for execution, and you could just stop it, with a flick of the switch. Wouldn't you? Wouldn't you all?" Pierce asks.

A council member throws his champagne glass, "Not if it was your switch."

The Strike member hands Pierce a gun. I step up and kick the council member aside. I grab Pierce's wrist and punch him, grabbing a small disk from my pocket and hurling it at a soldier, electrocuting him as I grab the gun form Pierce's hand and throw it at another soldier as I spin and kick another's stomach, slamming his down as I slam another mans face into the table.

I grab the gun and point it at Pierce, tapping a button on the side of my face. "I'm sorry...." I take off the veil and throw off my wig. "Did I step on your moment?"

I nod at the council members, they pick up the guns on the floor and aim at Pierce as I step over to the computer. "What are you doing?" A council member asks me.

"She's disabling security protocols and dumping all the secrets onto the Internet." Piece nods

"Including Hydra's." I nod.

"And Shield's....If you do this, none of your's and your sisters past is gonna remain hidden. Are you sure you're ready for the world to see you and your sister as you really are?"

I stop typing and smirk at him, "Are you?"

"Disabling the encryption is an executive order. It takes two Alpha Level members."
