Tony had shown me videos of a kid with abilities....I wasn't too happy with the idea of bringing in a kid...but we need him.We were sitting with the kids Aunt, talking with her as the kid walks in. "Hey, May."
"Hey. How was school today?"
"It was okay. This crazy car parked outside..." He stops and stares at us.
"Mr Parker." I smile.
"Um...W-What are you doing... Hey! Uh, I'm Peter."
"Tony."
"Y/N." I smile.
"What are you.....what are you doing here?"
"It's about time we met. You've been getting my emails, right?" Tony asks, making a face for him to say yes.
"Yeah. Yeah. Regarding the..."
"You didn't even tell me about the grant." May smiles.
"About the grant."
"The September Foundation." I nod.
"Right."
"Yeah. Remember when you applied?" Tony asks.
"Yeah."
"I approved, so now we're in business." Tony nods.
"But you didn't tell me anything. What's up with that? You keeping secrets from me now?" May asks.
"I just know how much you love surprises so I thought I would let you know... Anyway, what did I apply for?"
"That's what we're here to hash out." Tony says.
"Okay. Hash it out, okay."
"It's so hard for me to believe that she's someone's aunt." Tony points, making me roll my eyes.
"Yeah, well, we come in all shapes and sizes, you know?"
"This walnut date loaf is exceptional." Tony smirks.
"Let me just stop you there." Peter points.
"Yeah."
"Is this grant got money involved or whatever? No?" Peter asks.
"Yeah, it's pretty well funded." I chuckle.
"Yeah? Wow."
"Look who you're talking to." Tony laughs. "Can we have five minutes with him?"
"Sure."
We follow Peter back into his room, Tony steps over to the trash can and spits out the Walnut loaf. "As walnut date loaves go, that wasn't bad." He walks over to Peter's computer. "Whoa, what have we here? Retro tech, huh? Thrift store? Salvation Army?"
"Uh, the garbage, actually."
"You're a dumpster diver?" I ask.
"Yeah, I was... Anyway, look, um, I definitely did not apply for your grant..."
"Ah-ah! Me first. Okay. Quick question of the rhetorical variety." Tony pulls up the footage of Peter. "That's you, right?"
"Um, no...What do you mean?"
"Yeah. Look at you go. Wow! Nice catch. 3,000 pounds, 40 miles an hour. That's not easy. You got mad skills." Tony smiles.
"That's all on YouTube, though, right? That's where you found that? Because you know that's all fake. It's all done on the computer."
