I had stopped in London to see Steve. Someone he loved had passed away....Peggy Carter. He told me about her last year....Even though I decided to sign the Accords...I wanted to be here for him.

After the funeral I walk down the isle to see him standing alone, Steve looks back at me. "When I came out of the ice, I thought everyone I had known was gone. Then I found out she was alive. I was just lucky to have her."

"She had you back, too." I nod.

He turns and sits on the arm of the bench. "Who else signed?"

"Tony, Rhodey, Vision."

"Clint?" Steve asks.

"Says he's retired." I smile.

"Wanda?"

"TBD....I'm off to Vienna for the signing of the Accords. There's plenty of room on the jet." Steve sighs. "Just because it's the path of least resistance... doesn't mean it's the wrong path. Staying together is more important than how we stay together."

"What are we giving up to do it?" Steve sighs again. "I'm sorry,
Y/N. I can't sign it."

"I know." I smile.

"Then what are you doing here?"

"I didn't want you to be alone. Come here." I open my arms out for him, Steve stands and smiles as I wrap my arms around him.

"What about you and Tony? Are you okay?"

"Please don't turn this around on me." I shake my head.

"I can't help that I care about you."

"I don't know what's gonna happen...he's not talking to me." I shake my head.

"I'm sorry."

I pull him in and hug him again. "No...I'm sorry."

I fly to Vienna, looking around uncomfortably as I wait for it to start. "Excuse me, Ms Romanoff?"

"Yes?" I turn.

"These need your signature." I quickly sign. "Thank you."

"Thanks." I nod.

"I suppose neither of us is used to the spotlight." T'Challa walks over to me.

"Oh, well, it's not always so flattering." I smile.

"You seem to be doing all right so far. Considering your last trip to Capitol Hill... I wouldn't think you'd be particularly comfortable in this company."

"Well, I'm not." I nod.

"And that alone makes me glad you are here, Ms Romanoff."

"Why? You don't approve of all this?" I ask.

"The Accords, yes. The politics, not really. Two people in a room can get more done than a hundred."

"Unless you need to move a piano." His father King T'Chaka smiles.

"Ms Romanoff. King T'Chaka."

"Please, allow me to apologise for what happened in Nigeria." I nod.

"Thank you. Thank you for agreeing to all of this. I'm sad to hear that Captain Rogers will not be joining us today."

"Yes, so am I." I smile sadly.

I look up as I hear an announcement. "If everyone could please be seated. This assembly is now in session."

"That is the future calling. Such a pleasure."

"Thank you."

"When stolen Wakandan vibranium was used to make a terrible weapon... we in Wakanda were forced to question our legacy. Those men and women killed in Nigeria... were part of a goodwill mission from a country too long in the shadows. We will not, however, let misfortune drive us back. We will fight to improve the world we wish to join. I am grateful to the Avengers for supporting this initiative. Wakanda is proud to extend its hand in peace."

Suddenly T'Challa turns, "Everybody get down!"

A huge explosion erupts, throwing us all back. I cough and sit up to see T'Challa holding onto his father.....he was gone.

After being checked by the paramedics and learning that they think the Winter Soldier did it, I walk over and sit across from T'Challa, bowing my head. "I'm very sorry."

"In my culture... death is not the end. It's more of a stepping-off point. You reach out with both hands... and Bast and Sekhmet, they lead you into the green veldt... where you can run forever."

"That sounds very peaceful." I nod.

"My father thought so. I am not my father."

"T'Challa...Task Force will decide who brings in Barnes." I say.

"Don't bother, Ms Romanoff. I'll kill him myself." He stands and walks off.

I sigh and rub my head as I wince in pain. I look down as my phone buzzes and answer. "Yeah?"

"You all right?" It was Steve.

"Uh, yeah, thanks. I got lucky....only a bad headache." I sigh. I look up as I hear a police siren, then it echos through the phone. I stand and look around, knowing he's near me. "I know how much Barnes means to you. I really do. Stay home. You'll only make this worse. For all of us. Please."

"Are you saying you'll arrest me?"

"No. Someone will. If you interfere. That's how it works now." I sigh.

"If he's this far gone, Y/N, I should be the one to bring him in."

"Why?" I ask.

"Because I'm the one least likely to die trying." He hangs up.

"Shit." I put my phone down and look around me, not seeing Steve anywhere.
