Chapter 8
Lexa POV
As Clarke got out of the car and walked away I was able to get my breath back properly. Her face had just been so close to mine and she suddenly seemed so confident.
Clarke was straight, there was no doubt about that but I could swear that there was something in her blue orbs moments ago when she looked at me.
I get home and the house is empty so I tudge up to my room and turn on my music. I flop down on the bed and think about what to do next. As I lie there nothing but blonde curls and cute blue eyes fill my mind. Curiosity gets the better of me and I pull my laptop out from under my bed.
I log onto Instagram and search 'Clarke Griffin' a few profiles come up but I find the one that I am looking for. Her profile luckily isn't private and I begin to scroll down her feed.
I see photos of her back in the UK packing up her house with what looks like her Mum. It's tagged with the caption 'Moving day :('. Obviously Clarke didn't want to leave her home. I continue to scroll and reach photos of her in her school uniform with some of her friends. Hmm... Clarke in a school uniform, not a bad image to keep in my mind.
I stare at a photo in particular, it's nothing interesting. Just Clarke sat at the top of a big hill with the sun going down behind her. To anyone else it would seem like nothing, but to me I couldn't help but notice all of her little features that make her look so beautiful.
Jesus Lexa, what is the matter with you? I ponder to myself. You seriously need to knock this off. It isn't you and you are crushing on a straight girl of all people.
My thoughts turn to tomorrow, will Clarke speak to me? Do I even acknowledge her? Anya and Harper will only smother me with questions if I strike up a conversation with Clarke. I feel disappointed inside that I can't just sit down next to her in class tomorrow and speak to her, make her smile... kiss her. No Lexa, no!
I realise I need a distraction from Clarke so I whip my phone out to ring Costia. She is always up for some fun. However, as I go to dial I can't bring myself to hit 'call'.
Clarke's POV
I woke up early wanting to make a little extra effort with my appearance for school today. After contemplating my outfit for what seemed like forever I opted to wear a chequered black and red shirt with a black t shirt underneath and a pair of tight back skinny jeans. Simple but stylish I think to myself as I look in the mirror.
I look over at the chair in my room and spot Lexa's hoody. I wonder if I should take it back today, my mum had washed it last night as I had got blood on it. Would Lexa mind if I handed it back to her infront of her friends? I chuck it into my bag deciding that if I get a chance to give it to her when she is on her own I will do it then.
I arrive in the home room and look over to Lexa's desk. The smile suddenly drops from my face when I notice that she isn't sitting there. I wonder if she is okay and if she will be in later on. Octavia must see me looking over at Lexa's desk as I sit down.
"She doesn't come to the home room on Tuesday" Octavia explained to me.
"How come?" I ask monotonously not wanting to sound too interested.
"She sets up the pitch for extra practice in the first period" It's only then I look at her properly and she notices my big panda eyes.
"Oh my god! What happened to your face?" She genuinely looks concerned and I quickly think of what I am going to tell her. I wish I had thought of something before.
" I tripped up walking down the bleachers yesterday and hit my head on a metal railing" It sounded crap out loud but it was all that I could think of on the spot.
Octavia looks suspiciously at me, I can tell that she doesn't fully buy it, but she doesn;t question it.
"You need to be more careful then. Let me see where you are today so you don't get lost" She smiles at me and I hand her my time table.
"Lucky you, you've got a free study period. That means you can go to the study hall, any of the IT classrooms or even just find an empty classroom" OCtavia is nice enough to explain the rules of a 'study period' to me, as we don't have them in school back in the UK.
"Thanks, so basically just stay quiet and stay out of trouble" I laugh at her.
"Pretty much yeah. Hey, I realised I didn't give you my number yesterday. Pass me your phone and I'll put mine into yours. Then just text me to let me know it's you." I handed her my iPhone, happy that I had actually made a real friend at this place.
She enters some numbers into it and passes it back to me. We haven't been assigned a task in home room this morning so we just continue to talk about everything and nothing.
