"Our focus should be on the unhealthy behavioral patterns being established during the adolescent years. It occurs as a result of neglecting the importance of mental health and the influences from their social environments." Honey read aloud, her eyes scanning over the contents of her poorly written draft.
Honey was sprawled out on Angel's bunk bed, her hair splashed all over Angel fluffy pillows. Hours of her time had been given to the research project she had due for her English class. It was a complex and thorough assignment that challenged Honey into researching an issue aimed towards a particular demographic. Her professor must've felt pity for them because she gave them the option of having a partner which Honey was relieved about. Since Angel and Honey were in the same class they agreed to work together. Honey was beginning to suffer from the brunt of the endless assignments that college had to offer. Honey couldn't believe she ever fixed her mouth to complain about her homework in high school. Looking back at it, Honey had to admit it was child's play compared to college work. They're making sure I work hard for this degree.
Angel took a sip of the steaming hazelnut enriched coffee from her mug, listening attentively to Honey's issue statement. She sat her mug down on the table and fetched her laptop, propping it on her knees. "I'll go ahead and transfer that over to a Word document. I've finished the recommendations section for our research project. How does this sound..." Angel opened her laptop, tapping away her keyboard before she cleared her throat. "The parents must remain vigilant for any detrimental signs of mental health to prevent the progression of an untreated mental illness. The ability to ensure the adolescents are receiving mental health services also supports and encourages the goal of psychological, emotional and mental wellbeing of the youth." She finished as she gazed at Honey expectantly, the screen of her laptop created a soft glow over her features in the dimly lit room.
Honey shot up from the bed, giddy. "Girl, I can taste the A we're going to get on this project! Who would've thought we would make such a great team after the last time we paired up?"
Angel groaned loudly, "Let that go, I apologized a million times for going awol on you when we were supposed to complete that project in high school. I was sick." She reminded her defensively, as she plucked the sheet of paper from Honey's grasp and began to transfer the information over to the document.
Honey waved her off and continued her relentless teasing. "It wasn't that you were sick that made me mad, but the fact your phone was off. I was literally contacting everyone that knew you to find your whereabouts." Honey opened her binder, shoving all the loose leaf papers inside. She scribbled a note to herself on a random sheet and tucked it in the pockets of the binder. She had to remember to turn in her finished art assignment tomorrow.
Angel threw one of her decorative cheetah print pillow at Honey to which she narrowly dodged. Angel's slanted eyes sparkled, "Not another word! Lala I can't hear you!" Angel sung as she covered her ears and squeezed her eyes shut.
