Honey's must've fell into a slumber after the police officers left because the next time she opened her eyes, the tubes had been removed from her nose and the room was flooded in a subtle glow from the moonlight streaming in through the curtains. She blinked a few times to clear the darkness that had encompassed her vision. She would rather her eyes adjust dimly lit rom than to have those beaming overhead lights on. They were giving her a migraine earlier or it could've been the drugs they injected her with so really she didn't know.
Speaking of drugs, Honey moved an inch to see if the drugs had wore off and sucked in a sharp breath at the steering pain that struck her side. That sure did answer my question. How the hell am I going to deal with this lack of maneuverability? Damn you Spencer.
Honey locked her jaw as she rigidly laid against the pillows, wiping the sweat from her brow from the strenuous movement. Honey would've never thought something as simple as trying to sit up at an angle could be such a task, even moving at a snail's pace didn't help. She was tempted to call her nurse and ask for more medicine to dull the pain, but she wasn't ready to fall asleep again. She hated how the pain killers had the side effect of drowsiness. Her doctor really expected her to take them every 4-6 hours even after she was discharged. At that rate, Honey would never be awake. She couldn't sleep her life away especially when she was still a full time college student with tons of incomplete assignments.
"Hey princess, are you hungry?"
She glanced up at the sound of her father's deep voice coming from the entryway. He came over to the side of her hospital bed with what she assumed to be a small quantity of snacks within his arms. He looked just as worn out as her mother did. Honey felt a pang of guilt because she knew she was the reason for everyone's distress. It was so peculiar to see her parents look so haggard like this. She can't imagine the scare she gave everyone. She wanted to apologize profusely for it, but this wasn't her fault. She tried to take precautions to protect herself, but Spencer pulled up on her when she least expected it and harmed her in process.
Once she discharged from the hospital, she had plans to eliminate any activities that required her to leave her dorm without someone else. She always got caught slipping while she was alone, it never failed. To be honest, Honey was strongly against the idea of even going anywhere at all. She didn't want to live her life in fear, but every time she thought about how she got shot in broad daylight and left there to die. She was tempted to lock herself in her room and throw away the key.
Honey was still coming to the realization that the last 24 hours wasn't a bad dream, but real life. Never in a million years, did she ever think something like this would happen to her. She was trying to be strong by looking on the bright side and being grateful that it hadn't been worse. However, the damage was already done.. not just physically, but mentally as well. Once she leaves the surveillance of the hospital and cocoon of comfort provided by her loved ones. The gravity of this ordeal will hit her full force and she will unravel. Mainly, because Spencer is still out there and could come after her again if Nadia spew out more lies.
