Honey inspected the cooked food before her, laid out sparingly on several bowls across the granite countertops of Angel's kitchen. She looked over the outer appearance of the seafood to ensure it was cooked throughly and ready for the final step. Now, onto the seasoning. She picked up the recipe book for the finishing touches of flavor, trailing her fingertips over the words of the various spices she retrieved from the cupboards.
"So..paprika, dried oregano, black pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, garlic powder and parsley. Sounds about right." She nodded to herself, closing the recipe book and going over to the tall pot on the stove. Let's see what the end result will be. She twirled around and rested her hands on her hips, catching a glimpse of Angel thumbing through the mail left on top of the microwave. "Angel, you should be lucky that I love you like I do. I can't believe you have me slaving over food. I won't even be able to enjoy." She complained, carefully placing the ears of corn, potatoes, shrimp, crab legs, boiled eggs and sticks of butter into the boiling water.
She winced as waves of scorching steam sizzled her palms and withdrew her hands from the pot momentarily, tuning into what Angel was saying. "..Technically, you could enjoy it. Come with us to our first college party. It'll be a great way to finish this year and start the next one." Angel suggested, dropping the coupons and advertisements back onto the microwave in disinterest.
Honey sprinkled a generous amount of cayenne pepper and dried oregano over the boiling seafood, her other hand reaching out for the next canister of seasoning. "I don't know. We always abandon the last day of our annual sleepover for a party. We were supposed to watch Just Another Girl on the I.R.T. And quite frankly, I'm traumatized from the last New Year's party I went to that was hosted by your boyfriend, no offense Case." She added, forgetting Case was even there because he hadn't made a peep since he started playing Angel's brother PS5 in the living room. He crashed their sleepover after Cyn left a while ago to meet with Marques, saying how he wanted to see Angel when really he wanted to play the game.
Case did an one armed shrug, not pulling his eyes away from the flat screen as he smashed the buttons on the controller. "None taken. I know my shit was off the chain."
Angel crossed the kitchen, fetching a partially opened yogurt from the refrigerator and shoved a spoonful in her mouth. "That's exactly why you should come to this one! Why don't you replace that awful memory with a new one. The break is nearly over. We won't have another one until March. Everyone is going to be there, but you! So, do this for me." Angel begged, clasping her hands together in a silent plea.
Honey knew it would do her good to go out and have some real fun that didn't involve being indoors with only her family, Cyn, and Angel to keep her company. She's been cooped up in the house since she met with DJ and went out to get her tattoo done. She ended up going to another tattoo shop for her ink instead. She really didn't want to go back to the one where Noir worked at. Honey didn't have the best impression of that place after what she saw.
