Author's Note: This one's a long one

On a night like this, feelings of arousal were flying through the air, like angels or doves.

It seemed like 'love was in the air' or something like that, or at least, Arthur had hoped it would be.

To be honest, the Prince was expecting his excitement to be more or less registered by his body and not just his mind.

Maybe because love was not in the air.

Arthur shooed that idea out of his brain, his supposed eternal love for Merlin was no more, he had to move away from that and find peace because there was no way of them ever existing as one.

The thought of that usually left him in despair, but before it could, he was already greeted by the next woman in line.

A fine lady, of positively rich stature, who shot her hand out in front of Arthur as if he were a dog.

Yet, she was beautiful, she was also old. Middle aged, perfect for his father he supposed.

Arthur almost forgot where he was for a moment, before quickly taking her hand and kissing it.

"I am Lady Bell. You are lucky I speak such good English, otherwise you would not understand me."

This one was definitely unique, such a confident speaking voice too. If there were such a thing, he'd think she was an Alpha, also...

Was that French?

Before he could speak, the lady rose her hand to stop him.

"Eh? You think I am here for you? No, only here for my girls."

Arthur rose a brow, confused before he hears high pitched squeals behind him.

The line of noble guests had peaked their heads forward, eyeing the interaction seriously.

"Euphemia!"

Lady Bell's face brightened with fondness, striding past the Prince and allowing two ladies, possibly of the same age, to come rushing into her open arms.

"Mes beautés!"

Prince Arthur had suddenly seen the situation as none of his business, snapping back to his job at hosting the ball.

A man and a women arrived now, presenting Arthur with but a smile. It seemed that they looked down on him, from a parental point of view.

"Ah, Arthur. How nice to see how you have grown." The man began.

Of course, it was Sir Nathaniel and Lady Paget.

Close companions with his father, in fact, Sir Nathaniel was a knight alongside Uther.

Lady Paget began to smile lovingly too. "And look at how handsome you have gotten, the women must flock to you." She complimented.

Arthur inhaled their scent unintentionally. The smells were so bonded, that of love and shared companionship, something he felt so blessed to experience of such a couple.
