There was nothing less quiet than the two men who stood in each others company. Merlin speechless as blood rushed up from under his skin, it was nothing like he ever expected.

Well, first off, he expected to be the one proposing. Secondly, to a woman.

Yet here he was. Arthur Pendragon, the Prince of Camelot at his feet, asking for his hand in marriage.

Merlin had never heard of this in the prophecy and it made him wonder. Were the tales even real from the beginning?

There was so much that Arthur and Merlin were supposed to do that had been done so differently, why wasn't this any different?

Probably because the sorcerer was still, filled with love and compassion and so content with his soulmate.

Merlin was speechless.

"B-But... What about Camelot? Or your people, or Uther-"

"I don't care anymore..." Arthur interrupted, sighing as he kept his position, watching Merlin intensely. "All I want is you Merlin, let's-"

He bounced to his feet, a giddy smile plastered across his lips as he held the Omega's hands in his own.

"Run away together, far away from here."

This must be a dream.

There was no possible reality where this would happen, Merlin couldn't figure it out. If it were a dream, he never wanted to leave.

Arthur was all he ever wanted, and for once the Prince was choosing him... Him, as if he meant more than everything he had become.

There was not a thing he would've said that would honestly chase Merlin off, Arthur has done so much and he was still by his side.

They needed each other, they were two sides of a coin, him and Merlin.

There was no place in this world without one another.

Marriage, just settled that score.

Merlin and Arthur, married. Maybe, possibly  children one day, that was difficult considering Merlin's low chance of reproduction though.

It didn't matter, he would still be just as happy. Just as appreciative of his life and his love.

Suddenly, a few tears slipped from Merlin's eyelids, watching his prince dearly.

"M-Merlin! I-"

"Yes..."

"What?"

"Yes you- yes! Yes, you clotpole!"

The pathways were lit with hope and fallen stardust, enthusing the romantic aura only so much more. Both of them walked, hand in hand with grins spread across their cold lips.

Everything inside was warm, the feeling of want, passion, love. They felt complete for once, and finally at peace with themselves, yet... There was something missing.
