-Kaydan's P.O.V-
I let go of his wrist and watch him leave.
I should really go after him...
"Are you guys still fighting about the stupid kiss?" Lucas asks
I turn to look at him. "N-No!" "Get in the car," he demands. "But-"
"Now."
I stare at Christian's back for a second more, then make my way into the backseat of the car.
"Really?" Luke questions making a U- turn. "What?"
"You're really sitting in the back?" "There's more room back here."
He laughs out loud which, to be completely honest, pisses me off.
"The hell are you laughing at?"
He just laughs harder. "Oh my god! I didn't think that you could get jealous, let alone, this jealous!"
I feel the steam emit from my ears. "I'm not fucking jealous!"
"Are you kidding me? I've never seen you this mad, and it's not even for a legit reason!"
"My brothers-"
"Shut up about your brothers! How many times do I have to say that the kiss meant absolutely nothing?"
"...Three," I huff.
"It meant nothing, it meant nothing, it meant nothing."
Whatever.
We pull up in his driveway and he gets out to open my door for me. "My lady."
I roll my eyes at him then enter his house with my key.
"You must really like this kid," he hums strolling over to his couch.
"What?" I laugh turning to look at him as he collapses on it.
"Am I wrong?"
"I-, Ye-, N-, Wh-Why would you assume that?"
"I'm sure he's told you he's seventeen, right?"
"You knew?"
He nods. "I was playing the kid like a violin!"
So that's why they seemed so close...
"Hell, you should've seen him this morning! He was-" he stops himself.
"What did he do?"
"...Never mind. That aside, since you know and you're still flipping out about him, I'm guessing you don't really care that you're older than him."
It's hard to believe he's only seventeen. He sure as hell doesn't act like it...
"You slowly piecing things together now?" Luke speaks up.
"Sorta," I mumble.
"...Are you done being jealous?"
I walk over to him and pinch his ear.
"I'm joking, I'm-"
"J-Just keep your hands off him, alright?" I finish twisting it.
He looks at me with his mouth hanging open. "You totally like him!"
"I didn't say-"
"Christian and Kaydan sleeping in a bed, G-I- V-I-N-G hea-"
I latch onto his ear again, shutting him up. "Take me home."
He messages his ear as I release him. "Just stay here! It's easier!"
I shake my head. "Can't. I need to talk to Christian."
"You're brothers are there."
"...I know."
We sigh in unison.
"Let's go," he stands up and walks to the door.
I follow him out and sit in the passengers seat.
He drives by apartment and doesn't spare it a second glance.
"Luke," I begin, "you passed it."
"We aren't going home just yet," he answers with a grin.
"Then where-"
"Christian said you messed your hand up, so we're going to go have it looked at."
"It doesn't even hurt that bad!" He holds out his hand. "What?"
"High five me."
I turn away from him and look out my window. "...I don't feel like it."
"That's what I thought, so just sit back and enjoy the ride."
"Thanks again," I say to the doctor as he waves me away. I sigh looking down at my hand. He put a splint on it to prevent me from moving it, but also so it wouldn't affect my everyday life too much.
This is going to be a pain...At least it's blue.
I return to the waiting room and scan over the seats to find Luke. He looks up at me and smiles, then looks back to his phone. I walk over to him.
"How's the hand?"
"Broken-ish."
He cringes. "For how long?"
"At least 1 month. It wasn't too severe."
"That kinda sucks...just not as much as it could."
"Yeah, I know."
We walk up to the receptionist and Luke hands her his card. He thanks her as we exit, then we pile into his car. He takes out his phone, again, then types away at the keypad.
"Who are you texting?" I ask peaking over his shoulder.
He moves closer to me so I can get a better look saying, "Your boyfriend."
I narrow my eyes at him. "I'm not even going to dignify that with a response."
He chuckles. "Good."
"How'd you even get Christian's number?"
"He gave it to me in case of emergencies."
"Such as?"
He scrolls up to the top of their conversation and hands me his phone. "This."
I read the first message, which was send by Christian.
Kaydan's Hubby: Kaydan broke his hand. Take him to the doctor. Now.
"When did he send this?" I question, ignoring his contact name.
"The second you stepped into my car," he replies. "Keep reading."
The next one was from Luke.
On it.
Kaydan's Hubby: Keep me informed.
...?
Kaydan's Hubby: Tell me what happens to Kaydan.
I can't understand what you're asking of me.
Kaydan's Hubby: Let me know if Kaydan is okay.
I swear you're speaking a foreign language!
Kaydan's Hubby:...
Yes?
Kaydan's Hubby: Please.
See? Was that so hard? I'm teaching you some good old fashion manners! You are very welcome!
Kaydan's Hubby: Duck you. ?
Kaydan's Hubby: Good bye. Kaydan's Hubby:...=_=! Okay, that was really cute.
I look at Luke.
"I know!"
I continue reading.
I'll keep you informed any way.
At the doctor's.
They took him in.
His hand is broken.
You owe me $138.
That was the last one.
Read receipt was on, and it showed that Christian read every message the time it was sent.
"You guys are something else," I finish handing him his phone back.
He just laughs. "Where to?" "...I have a request."
-Christian's P.O.V-
The cold slab of rock pressed against my back as I lay underneath the warmth of the sun. I close my eyes to keep the sun from destroying my retinas, and exhale deeply. All I can hear around me are the songs of the birds, rushing water, and the wind blowing through the trees. I feel the wind swirl over me and shiver slightly.
Cold.
I take out my phone and check the time.
It's only 10: 23. I close my eyes again. I've been laying out here for over 2 hours.
I just want today to be over.
I hear leaves being crunched to my far right, and decide to ignore it. A few seconds pass and the crunching comes closer. Once it stops the burning of the sun on my eyelids disappears and it becomes colder. I open my eyes and see a dark figure towering above me. It takes time for my eyes to adjust.
"Kaydan?" I ask uncertain.
"Hi," he answers sitting next to me.
I scoot over a bit to make sure we aren't too close. "Why are you here?"
"Because I figured you wouldn't be home."
"Where's Lucas?"
"He dropped me off a while ago. I'm pretty sure he's back home by now."
"Oh," I pause briefly. "How is your hand?"
"Broken...ish." He holds up his hand, revealing a blue splint.
"That looks inconvenient."
"Screw my hand for a second," he says boldly. "Let's talk about you."
"Me?"
"Yes, you. Why haven't you been going to school?"
I shrug. "I went for the first month, then lost interest."
"I hope you're aware that you need to start going back."
"What for?"
"Cause you need to have a high school education at least."
"No I don't."
"Who told you that?"
"I looked it up. There are plenty of people who dropped out of school who are billionaires now."
He glares at me. "What?"
"You are going back." "Says who?"
"Says me."
I study him.
He keeps his gaze fixed on me.
I break first. I lay back onto my back and rest my hands behind my head. "I'm not even good at school."
"Okay, so I'll help you."
"You aren't going to let me win this, are you?"
"No I am not. If you want me to continue helping you sleep, you are going to have to-"
I sit up quickly and face him again, which makes him jump. "Wh-What?"
"...You still want to help me?"
He relaxes a bit before nodding slowly.
"Even after..." I trail off seeing his face start to glow red, then look away myself feeling equally embarrassed. "You don't have to, alright? I not going to force you to do anything that would make you feel uncomfortable."
He clears his throat loudly. "What kind of role model would I be if I quit now? Quitters never prevail!"
"I thought it was cheaters."
"Those guys too! Both get nowhere in life!"
I almost laugh. "Are you trying to cheer me up?"
"I-I didn't even notice you were upset," he coughs.
I smile and move closer to him, resting my head on his shoulder. "I'm not."
He doesn't move, allowing me to stay where I am. I can hear his heart beat, along with air entering and exiting his lungs.
"How about we make a deal," he begins.
"Depends on what it is."
"I won't quit, if you don't."
"You really want me to go back to school, don't you?"
"Please?"
"...I can't win against you," I whisper more to myself.
"What?"
I sigh sitting up."I'll try it for a week."
He smiles hugely. "Really?"
"I'm quitting if I don't-"
He lunges at me and wraps his arms around my neck. "Thank you for at least trying."
My heart slams against my rib cadge. Once it finally calms down I hug him back lightly. "Sure," I say keeping my cool.
