-Kyle's P.O.V-
Kaydan passes me and heads to the door, opening it to reveal Luke and Christian.
"Howdy neighbor," Luke smiles with a tiny wave.
"What's up guys?" Kaydan questions skeptically.
"Christian was just being a little stubborn," Luke laughs placing his arm around Christian's neck.
"I wasn't being stubborn, he wouldn't leave me alone," Christian defends.
Kaydan eyes Luke suspiciously.
"I didn't do anything wrong this time! He said he was tired!" Luke yells.
"Tired, not 'I want to cuddle with you in my bed'," Christian finishes with a stern face.
"You said, and I quote, "I need Kaydan-"
"Key word Kaydan. Not Lucas."
"Well-"
"Guys...What the hell is happening?" Kaydan cuts in stopping them short.
Christian saunters in and collapses onto Kaydan, causing his knees to buckle a bit, then turns his head to whisper something in his ear.
I quickly avert my gaze and hurry over to Luke's side in the hallway. When a few seconds go by I cautiously peek up at Kaydan.
His cheeks are slightly red. "A-Are you guys staying, or leaving?"
"I'm kinda tired, so I think we should-" "Leave," I finish for Luke cutting him off. "I was actually going to say-"
"Leave," Christian finishes for him this time resting his hand on the door and glaring at him. He slams the door shut, then a muffled, "Christian" sounds from behind the door, along with muffled protests then another door slamming.
Luke and I were left alone standing in the hallway. I immediately felt uncomfortable.
"I guess we're going to my place then," Luke speaks up startling me.
"S-Sure, I guess so!"
We start walking towards the elevator and step inside. It squeaks as our weight enters and hums as the doors close. The ride down is painfully slow. Once the doors finally open I step out quicker than he does.
"You alright?" He questions concerned.
"I'm fine," I respond not looking at him.
The front doors to the building open and the two girls we ran into on the elevator earlier are standing in front of us. They were talking to each other until one noticed me and silences her friend by saying, "Look, look, it's them!"
"I'm trying to-" she stops short when she looks in our direction. "G-Good evening!" She exclaims.
"Y-Yeah!" Her friend chips in. "About earlier..." she trails off.
"Don't worry about it!" Luke steps up to the plate.
"Um...well...are you okay?" The first one asks me.
I nod confused.
"It's just that...your face is extremely red." "I-I-"
"Oh gee," Luke shouts after moving to see my face. "It must be an allergic reaction. We should get you to a hospital."
"No, no!" I scream holding my hands out in front of me.
"Your face just got darker. We're going." He hoists my up and throws my waist over his shoulder. "Thanks ladies, I've got it from here."
I cover my face with both of my hands as he carries me out to his car. Once I'm placed inside, and he gets in and starts the car, I cover the gearshift with both of my hands. "Wait!"
"Yes, Austin?" He replies calmly.
My heart punches my ribs. "Okay, d-don't call me by my middle name, and I'm not having a reaction to anything, so don't speed to the hospital!"
"I know. I just wanted to be alone with you, and that seemed like the fastest way to do it," he grins.
I narrow my eyes at him.
"Your face was incredibly red by the way." "Shut up!"
"Also, you can let go of my hand now." "Huh?"
He glances down and I follow his eyes to the gearshift. Both of my hands are planted firmly on his. I jump back and pull my hands to my chest. "A-Accident!"
After he puts the car in drive he uses his hand to hide a chuckle, then grabs one of mine, lacing his fingers with it.
"S-Stop!" I protest yanking at my hand a bit.
"You don't like it?" He asks sounding defeated. "I think it's nice."
I exhale deeply through my nose before giving up.
He lets out a nervous laugh. "I'm sorry. I guess it probably feels a little weird because my hand is sweating so much."
I though that was me...
"I have napkins in the glove box if-"
"It's fine!" I exclaim placing my other hand on his.
We drive for a bit longer until he clears his throat. "Hey...what do you think about me?"
My face grows hot and I can hear the blood begin to rush to my ears. "What?" I barely manage to whisper.
"What do you think about me?" He repeats. "I-"
I think you're a great guy.
"I mean, you aren't awful," I blurt out.
I like how you and Kaydan get along, and how he can depend on you.
"Kaydan seems to think you're okay," I continue.
...I also think that can grow to depend on you more...
"...I guess...you're okay."
Which might become a bad thing.
"B-But definitely average!" I finish frantically.
I take peek at him to see him slowly nodding his head. He's not showing much expression.
"That's not a bad thing!" I press.
"So what you're saying is...you like me?" He finally responds.
"I-I-I never said that!" My heart starts to pump more blood to my body. I'm pretty sure it thinks I'm dying.
"Yeah...but you kinda did."
"I said you're okay!"
"Because you want to depend on me more." "I-I said you're average!"
"Because you are scared to."
Millions of thoughts rush through my head, and most of them consist of getting away from Luke as soon as possible.
He thinks I'm disgusting.
I tug my hand out of his and plug both of my ears before screaming, "I'm not gross!"
The car comes to a halt and Luke reaches over, pushing my hands away from my ears. "Whoa, whoa, whoa? What?"
"Don't touch me!" I feel tears find their way to my chin.
I know you don't want to! Don't force yourself to touch me!
"Stop screaming," he combats, holding my arms down.
I try to fight him off of me, but he is way stronger than I am. Instead of fighting him back with force, I scream louder and more incoherently.
"Kyle," he manages to scream louder than me, which shuts me up instantly. "I like you."
"Don't make fun of me!"
"I'm not," he breaths looking me dead in the eye.
"B-But I'm disgust-"
"You're not."
I start shaking my head furiously.
"I'm the one who likes you. I forced my feelings on you and even held you down against your will, regardless of you begging me to stop. You're crying for God's sake!...I'm sorry," he releases me and sits back in his seat.
I look in front of me and notice we have been parked in his drive way. When I look back over to him, he's handing me tissues.
"I took these from Christian's apartment, cause I figured after talking with Kaydan you might be sad. Turns out you just needed to talk to me."
I stare at them blankly.
"I know they came from Christian, and I know you really don't want to be here with me right now, but-"
I lean over the console and place my lips on his. After five blissfully mind numbing seconds he pulls back and looks at me.
"...what does that mean?"
"That you're average," I reply trying to smile. Please don't be upset anymore.
"...So...you might like me too then?"
I hide a tiny grin and muster all of my courage, feeling extremely confident. "I liked you first, idiot."
He stares at me with a big, idiotic grin, and I knew that even a blind man would be able to tell I was blushing. "Th-That was your plan all along, wasn't it?"
He shrugs. "Not entirely. I was honestly worried for a second." He turns off the car and kisses my forehead. "How bout we head inside?"
"I-I just didn't want you to cry," I argue as he steps out of the car. I get out as well and follow him to the door.
"I know," he opens it then locks it behind me. "You need to wake up in 5 hours, so you should probably go to bed. I have spare clothes in my drawer."
I nod and hurry into his room. I shut the door and close my eyes for a few seconds. And take a deep breath. Luke's smell fills my nostrils instantly.
Has he always smelled this nice?
I step forward to his drawer and pull open the first shelf. His boxers are individually folded into a tight square, and tucked to fit next to each other perfectly. Most of them are bright and have patters of random things like a Popsicle pattern on yellow, or flamingos on mint green. Oddly, it was very like him.
I hold back my laughter and open the second drawer. Inside here I find shorts. Mostly athletic. I grab a black and blue pair, then open the next one. T-shirts. I take a salmon one, and resist the urge to search the rest of them. I quickly change into his closes and already feel them trying to slip off me. I walk back to his door and open it to see him on the couch watching TV. I slowly make
it over to him and sit on the couch, making sure to be a safe distance away.
He glances over at me. "Why are you sitting so far?"
I glue my eyes to my hands. "I'm not."
Seconds pass before he lets out a huge yawn and leans over, resting his head on my lap.
I hold my hands up in defense and freeze.
"You are extremely comfortable, you know that?" He mumbles.
"I-I'm tired!"
"Oh, my bad," he sits up and and drags me to his room and onto his bed, then pulls the covers over my head.
I'm engulfed in his scent. I can't even describe it. His sheets wrap around me like a warm hug. The bed sinks beside me and the cover is removed from my head.
"Your face is completely red," Luke smirks.
I punch at him, but he catches it with his hand.
"You are so conscious of me right now, and I love it."
"I-I just want to sleep!"
He pulls me closer to him with my hand, and his body meets mine under the sheets.
"Then sleep," he whispers seconds before his lips meet mine.
I can feel a tiny ache in my heart arise when he pulls away, but it disappears slightly when he rests his head on my shoulder.
Am I suppose to be this happy? Maybe we're moving a bit too fast? Should I ask him?
I sigh quietly.
I'm already starting to depend on him too much...and I'm leaving in 5 hours...
