-Christian's P.O.V-
When I wake up I don't open my eyes instantly; I enjoy the sensation of a good night's rest. I can still feel Kaydan's warmth as he sleeps in my arms. His body rising and falling, slowly and gently. The faintest of smiles creeps onto my face. This is definitely the best way to sleep.
I finally open my eyes. The sun isn't fully up yet, but a small amount of sunshine is peeking though my window. When my vision clears I see his face, slightly illuminated by the sun. I'm a little shocked at first. He wasn't facing me when I drifted to sleep. For as long as I could remember, I've never woken up to see my partner's face. I close my eyes to calm myself, then reopen them when I feel I relaxed. I move the arm that isn't underneath him and use my hand to brush his bangs to the side, out of his face. I pause.
He doesn't move.
I observe that he has some stubble growing around the out skirts of his face. His nose is wide, and his lips are a light shade of pink. After scanning his facial features, I begin to look at his expression. He is wearing a look of peacefulness, and doesn't look tense in the slightest. I reach out again to touch his face. I rest my palm on his cheek, and lightly press my thumb against his lips.
...Soft...
He begins to stir and I quickly withdraw my hand, catching my breath. He lets out a quiet groan and turns to his side, showing me his back. I exhale and clear my mind.
What the hell am I thinking?
I take a deep breath in, and the smell of roses enters my nostrils. As I start to shut my eyes, I hear a squeaking dulled my my wall. I knew it was impossible to ignore it because it was going to annoy me for however long it continued. I carefully slide my hand out from under Kaydan, and roll off of my bed. I take a quick glance at my clock to discover that it was 4: 55 in the morning. As I travel down the stairs I realize the sounds is coming from next door.
It's probably Kaydan's alarm.
I leave my room and walk over to his. I place my hand on his doorknob and test my luck by turning it. Lucky for me it wasn't locked.
I don't think this counts as breaking and entering...
I step over the threshold and enter his room. The first thing I notice is that his smell dominates the area. It's small and stuffy, but carries a comfortable, lax feel. There are clothes covering spots on the floor, and a couple of plate piled in his sink. I walk into his living room to see his couch cushions scattered around with a comforter draped over his couch.
...That's probably from previous times...his room is right against the wall...
I don't spent too much time in there, and hurry up into his room. To my surprise it is the cleanest part of his apartment. His sheets are blue green, and his pillowcases are black. His blanket is tossed over the side as though he got under them and changed his mind. In the spot where the mattress isn't covered lies his phone.
The puppies are back on the screen yelping, and licking. The caption on it reads: IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR ASS UP YOU'RE SCREWED.
I pick it up and return to my apartment, making sure to close his door behind me. I walked back up my stairs and in to my room. I crouch beside him and hold is phone up to his ear.
He doesn't move.
"Hey," I call poking him in the face with it. "I think you need to get up."
He cracks his eyes open and sticks his hand out to grab his phone. He slides it off without looking at the caption and closes his eyes again.
I'm relieved that it's off, but know that I have to get him up. "It said that if you don't get up that you're screwed."
He snorts. "It says that every morning." "Don't you have to go to work?"
"Not this early."
"...Are you sure?"
"Yeah. Luke said that...OH MY GOD, I'M GUNNA BE LATE!" He jumps up and over me, then darts into my bathroom.
I stand up puzzled. "...You do know that's-"
"Your bathroom, yes, I know," he replies exiting embarrassed.
I hold back my laughter as he trails down my stairs. I follow him down to my door.
He opens it and turns to face me. He stares at me for awhile.
"What?"
He shakes his head. "Your bags are gone, so that must mean you're feeling better, right?"
I scratch the back of my neck. "I finally got to sleep, so I gu-"
His eyes go wide.
"What now?"
"I forgot to fix my side of the bed," he sighs. "Don't worry about that, I'll fix it."
"You sure?"
I nod.
"O-Okay."
We stand in silence for a while.
"I guess I'll go then."
I nod again.
Once he leaves I close the door after him. I turn and place my back against it and rest my hand on my head.
What am I going to do?
-Kaydan's P.O.V-
I scamper over into my apartment. I'm shocked to find that it's unlocked, but everything is in place, so I''m not too worried.
I'll check for my things later, I need to hurry up and get out of here.
I take a quick shower, and change into my clothes.
I'll just grab a bite at the restaurant.
I look at the clock and sigh. "I should really thank Christian for waking me-"
A knock at the door stops me mid-sentence. I hurry over to the door and open it. Christian is standing above me. "Hi," I say, it coming out more of a question.
"I just wanted to make sure you didn't go back to sleep," he says.
"I was just heading out," I reply closing my door and locking it. I walk over to the stairs and stop. "By the way, thanks for waking me up."
"I should be thanking you really."
"My conscious wouldn't let me sleep if I didn't do something." I step back over to him. "Also...since I have something to do with you not being able to sleep, I'll try to help you fix the problem."
He looks at me puzzled.
"I mean, I'll try to...'cure' you in a sense. We can try different methods to get you to sleep. Until we find out the reason...I guess I'll just...stay over at your place for awhile," I finish feeling slightly embarrassed, looking to the ground.
He goes quiet for a second. "Really?" He asks.
I peak up to see him smiling slightly, looking over to the side.
He looked like a kid, regardless of his height.
I punch him lightly in the chest before saying, "Yes really." I turn on my heel and head for the stairs. "I gotta go, so I'll see you later, okay?"
He only waves at me as I descend down the stairs.
He's not too bad of a guy..
