"So tell me, is Jungkook interested in you?"
I saw Olivia's expression slowly changing, her face going from mildly blushing and feeling shy to her deciding that she wasn't going to give me the satisfaction that I was scraping for or feed my ego by letting me rat out bullshit. I liked that. It meant, she wasn't going to sit there and let her feelings get the best of her rationality. Keeping her pen aside and puffing her cheeks while exhaling, she slowly turned her head towards me, laid back on her chair, giving me the side eye.
"Sunbae-nim" she started talking, looking dead into my eyes, her voice clearly gaining a few decible but not enough to disrupt anyone around us.
"I appreciate you showing interest in my life, but I am not going to sit here and let you waltz into my personal space. Anything that happens between me and Jungkook, remains between us until he chooses otherwise, he is your friend but he is also my friend. "
I like her, already. I thought.
"And also I don't know what bad blood you and Jungkook share, but I am not looking to be involved in any of it. I don't want any part of it whatsoever." She ended her statement by sneaking in this piece of information.
At her statement, my heart skipped a beat. Not romantically, but out of some kind of fear. My nerves started to get a little unsteady because I did not expect her to catch on to the bad blood between me and Jungkook so quickly. In a matter of few minutes and an abrupt exchange to be precise. She went back to her books and laptop for me to process that information. She knew I was stumped so she didn't even bother talking me out of it, moreover she spoke of it with much confidence that she couldn't be even be wrong about it, but thinking about it, my reaction and silence gave it away.
It took me a few minutes to get back to normal and not fluttering my eyes like I was trying to process the information that was just laid out in front of before I looked up at her and smiled, she intrigued me and I wanted to feed into that fascination. Leaning in her direction, I turned towards her.
"Hey, why don't you turn towards me a little?" I said.
She looked up with contempt, I almost chuckled at her expression towards me.
I pulled my chair towards her more before using my feet to turn her chair so she was facing me and with little effort, I heard her yelp due to the sudden movement. I put both of my palms at the either side of her chair's handrest while she leaned back in her chair to keep her distance from me, her expression still holding contempt. I leaned forward to her closing the distance between us but not enough for her to feel physically hostile towards me, I knew the kind of expression I had as I looked at her face which had an expression of shock as she didn't expect me to do what I just did.
"You...." I said, as my tongue went around my mouth and then on to my lips. I was thoroughly amused.
"Why don't you have a drink with me today? After this?" I asked.
Her expression neutralized as she pondered over the proposition I just gave.
"No thank you, I have errands to run today." She said.
"Alright. Then give me your number." I smiled this time, going back to lean on my chair and pulling my phone out. I knew what she was doing, she was downright avoiding me.
