Nala
I pulled up outside Chris's house five minutes ago and I've just been sitting here. I don't know why I was so nervous.
"Get it together Nala." I said turning off the car
I walk up to his door knocking twice. He opened the door quickly startling me.
"Sorry." He said seeing me jump "I've been waiting for you."
He stepped to the side letting me come in, locking the door behind me.
"You wanna go to my room?"
"Living room is fine actually." I said walking ahead of him
I heard him sigh but follow behind me. I chose to stand up as he sat.
"Go ahead." I said "Explain."
Sebastian
"I want to do that VR thingy first." Kalani said pointing
"Whatever you wanna do baby." Darius said wrapping his arm around her
How did I get stuck as a third wheel with these two. I wish Nala didn't have to go home. I hope everything is okay she looked upset when she was leaving.
"Hey Kalani, did Nala ever tell you why she had to go home." I asked
"Um not really." She answered "Just said she really had to get back to her mom."
"Hmm okay."
Must be something serious if she couldn't even tell Kalani. The two of them went to where the VR was setup while I wondered in another direction. Prom was going good so far besides Nala having to leave. I really wanted tonight to be special. Wanted us to reconnect...
Intimately.
At least those are the words I was gonna use to tell her. I honestly just missed the feeling of being inside her. She really hasn't been that affectionate as I thought she would to be my girlfriend when I think about it. Then again she isn't used to being in a relationship so she probably doesn't even know how to be.
"Well if it isn't Sebastian."
"Skai." I groaned
"Yes love, it's me." She said running her hand up and down my arm "Where's your little date at?"
"She's not my "little date" and don't worry about it." I said
"Awe don't tell me she ditched you." She giggled
"Skai why are you here?" I asked annoyed
Nala
"So it was all just a cover?" I said
"Yes, none of it was real." He said taking my hand "I was just playing along so she wouldn't continue to suspect anything."
"Chris that sounds good but you really didn't have to do all that." I said taking my hand back "I get it that she said it in front of other coaches but all you had to do was deny it and move on. Yet you chose to go above and beyond and take her out, why?"
He sat there saying nothing. Making me even more frustrated.
"Chris you literally missed the biggest moment of my life because you were with her!" I yelled "Do you not realize that, nothing you say will excuse the fact that that's fucked up."
"I didn't think you wanted me there!" He said now standing up "You pushed me away so I stayed away."
"I didn't push you away, I was dealing with enough pressure that day. The last thing I wanted to be worried about is us getting caught up."
Silence took over the room as he stared at me. It's like he wanted to say something but didn't know what to say. It's like we were getting nowhere.
"Nala you mean the world to me. I'm so sorry that I wasn't there for you at State and I'm sorry that I gave another female all the attention that should've went to you. I should've just brushed off her comment about us and kept it pushing."
"I guess I'm just worried about the lengths you'll go to protect us. Like what else would you have done in an effort to keep her mouth shut. Would you have slept with her?"
"Nala I would never do that to you!"
"I'm just asking Chris. I would never think you would've done me how you did at State, yet here we are."
"Just tell me what I can do to make this right." He said cupping my cheek "I don't wanna lose you."
Sebastian
"What are you doing with Skai?" Kalani asked glaring at the two of us
"You wanna be Nala's bodyguard so bad." Skai rolled her eyes
"And you wanna be her girlfriend so bad, last I heard." Kalani smirked
Her girlfriend? Fuck is she talking about?
"I don't know what you're talking about?" Skai stammered
"You're gay?" I asked turning towards her
"No!" She denied "I-I'm n-not gay she's just lying."
"Okay." Kalani laughed "So are the other people who saw you try to kiss Nala at the banquet."
"Shut the fuck up!" Skai said pushing Kalani
"Oh I've been waiting on this day bitch you got the right one." Kalani said squaring up
"Not here babe." Darius said pulling her back
"Nah fuck that let me go!"
Wriggling out of Darius's grasp Kalani got one arm loose and she took that opportunity to smack Skai straight across the face making me laugh.
"Stupid bitch!" Kalani said as Darius picked her up carrying her off
"Why the fuck are you laughing?" Skai asked me
"Cause you just got bitch slapped." I continued to laugh "Your face is red as hell."
"Fuck you Sebastian!" She said pushing me before storming off
I shrug taking out my phone to see if Nala responded to the text I sent earlier. I just asked her if she was home and if she was okay. My message was still only delivered though. What if something happened. Remembering that I could track the car's location through the rental app, I check it. I see that the car was parked at a house but it wasn't Nala's house.
Where the hell was she at?
Putting the address into google maps I see that the house was 20 minutes away from here.
"Yo Darius, I'm gonna head out."
