The stadium was packed already. People usually don't start showing up till later in the afternoon but these were the meets that count. We had another meet after this one and then State was here. Our relay has already qualified, Nala for hurdles, and me for Long Jump. I was only doing the 100m today and Nala the 200m. Using Nala's technique I was able to PR at last week's meet with a time of 11.42. I wanted to at least run somewhere in the 11.30's today.
I looked down from the stands to see Nala with Carter down on the field. He held his whistle that he just had in his mouth up to hers and she smacked his hand as the two of them laughed. When I say I never seen my bestfriend so happy. She's changed but in a good way. She was in love or "in like" as her capping ass would call it. I was happy for her.
I see Skai come up the bleachers and go over to Nala's bag. She must've not seen me up here, unless she really was that bold.
"What the hell are you doing?" I approached her
She had one of Nala's spikes in her hand and her other fist was closed so I couldn't see.
"Mind your business Kalani." She scorned "This has nothing to do with you."
"What is in your hand?"
"Bitch didn't I just say mind your business!"
"Skai you know I'm not the one." I got closer to her
I grabbed her closed fist to reveal that she had all the actual spikes you screw into the bottom of the shoe in her hand.
"You really going out your way to try and sabotage her right now." I said taking the spikes from her
"She doesn't deserve to win!" She whined
"And why is that?"
"You wouldn't get it." She stood up "You're so far up her ass, you don't see the wrong she does!"
"Bitch ain't nobody up anybody's ass it's called being a real friend and holding each other down. Something you know nothing about!"
"Whatever bitch." She said brushing past me
"Those were her practice spikes anyways you dumb bitch!" I called out after her
Nala walked up the bleachers as Skai was running down them. She looked at her then looked at me running up to where I was beside her bag.
"Why was she over here?" She asked
"She was trying to steal your spikes so you wouldn't be able to run." I answered handing the spikes in my hand to her
