Brett thought he heard the sound of his heart break in two. He gently pushed Eddy's chest and took a step back away from Eddy's embrace as he quickly started to wipe his tears with the back of his hands.
"O..okay Eddy. Fair enough.. I.. I know I shouldn't have expected you to anyway..."
"No Brett.. because it's not like that.. at all.."
Brett opened his still tear filled eyes and looked up at Eddy. He then furrowed his brows because Eddy looked like he was.. blushing.
"Eddy? "
"No, it's not that at all. It's.. I.. I simply haven't allowed myself fall in love with you till now. But if I was allowed to.. I would.. in an instant."

Brett couldn't process what he'd just heard. He whispered in a barely audible voice because he thought he might be dreaming and was scared to wake himself up.
"Wait.. Eddy, you haven't..? You haven't what? You would..? You would what?? ... Wait.. did you just say you would..fall in love with me in an instant?"
Eddy nodded. He gingerly reached out his hands to take Brett's.
"Yes."
Brett stammered;
"B, but.. Eddy... what about... you finding your partner of choice and starting your own family? Having a child.. someone you are connected to by blood.. don't you want that? I thought you'd want that more than anything... because.. you know. .you were orphaned.."
Eddy smiled.
"If.. if I'm allowed to love you Brett... We'll then be connected by blood and I think that would be a bond just as strong. You and I.. we'd be family... my own.. family, with you. I can't think of anything better."
Brett looked up again at Eddy with tear filled eyes. He then yanked his hands away from Eddy's hold. Eddy widened his eyes in surprise.
"Brett..?"
"Eddy...!!"
Eddy's widened eyes immediately softened as he felt Brett's body crash into his.
And this time, Eddy didn't hesitate to hug Brett back.
When the two returned, Brett's mother noticed the change in chemistry between the two boys as soon as she saw them.
Once they sat down again, Brett tried to deliver the news as calmly as possible;
"We... talked. And we agreed and we both want to try what you suggested, Mother."
Brett's mother smiled.
"Okay. I'm pleased to hear that. I think it's your best chance. ...Thank you Eddy."
Eddy shyly replied.
"..It will be my pleasure, Ma'am."
Brett's mother smiled when she noticed how her son beamed with Eddy's words.
"That's.. very sweet of you to say. Well, I'll ask the housekeepers to prepare the Annex for you two. Eddy, why don't you go back to the servants' quarters with your parents and pick up your things then come back?"
"I.. I am to move in tonight, Ma'am?"
"I think you should Eddy. Brett may not be feeling it but he actually needs a drink rather desperately. And we also don't know when your next craving is so it's unsafe for you to stay in the servants quarters. Once you're fully awakened with Brett's blood though, you can go visit your parents any time you like."
Eddy nodded. He then glanced towards Brett but struggled to say any words. Brett had already been staring at Eddy;
"So Eddy.. I'll.. um, see you later..?"
Eddy simply replied in the way he was the most used to.
"Yes."
Eddy and his parents walked back without uttering a word and upon returning to the servants' quarters, Eddy went into his tiny bedroom and looked around. Apart from the small amount of change of clothes, he couldn't see any other personal belongings he could take with him. He then remembered he should take his toothbrush and so he ducked out to grab it from the servants' communal bathroom. He returned to his little bedroom and put the toothbrush on top of the small pile of clothes he had on his bed. Eddy realised he didn't even have a bag to take his clothes in. Eddy ducked outside again and grabbed his bath towel that was hung up on the clothesline from after he took a shower before visiting the main wing. He returned to his room and wrapped his belongings in the towel.
"Eddy, are you packed?"
Eddy turned around. It was his parents, standing by the door.
"Yes. Not that there's much to pack at all."
His mother replied;
"No, I guessed as much.. we really don't have many personal possessions, do we?"
"No. But that's okay. I was happy here. I was so lucky to be raised by you and Dad, Mum. Thank you."
"Oh don't be ridiculous, Eddy."
"..Mum?"
His mother stepped into the little bedroom to give her son a hug.
"..We were the lucky ones that got to raise you Eddy."
"Mum.."
Eddy hugged back his tiny mother and cried.
"Eddy, you're so tall but you're still such a baby. Don't forget you're always our son. Next time I see you, you would've completed what you call your awakening? You'll be a mature man, I suppose."
Eddy's mother slowly stepped away and his father stepped forward. Eddy's father finally spoke for the first time in hours.
"Son."
"Yes Dad?"
"Are you sure this is what you want to do?"
"Yes Dad."
"I'm torn. I don't want you banished from this estate. But if you are going through this arrangement against your will.. it will be like reliving the trauma you experienced when you were 4 years old all over again."
"Trauma?"
"Your mother and I.. took turns cuddling you when you slept when you first arrived. You used to have horrible night terrors and we needed to reassure you that you're loved."
"You did..??"
"Yes. This is why I don't want you to do this is if it's against your will. You don't deserve that. ..Our precious son does not deserve that."
Eddy held back his tears as he smiled;
"Thank you Dad.. It's not like that Dad.. I promise. I'm.. I'm actually happy with this arrangement.. And I promise I'll come visit you regularly once my condition settles."
"So you and Master Brett..."
"Yes..?"
"You don't have a problem being.. exclusive with each other..?"
"No. No I don't. I'm.. happy about that. I.. I'm allowed to be true to my feelings now."
"...Okay. That's good."
"Dad?"
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry I can't give you and mum any grandchildren."
Eddy's father sighed.
"We don't know what triggered your vampire instincts and started your awakening. But if it was bound to happen, what with your complex blood lineage and the need to drink blood.. it would've been very difficult for you to find a partner, let alone a partner who could give you children. I think you are lucky you ended up with Master Brett. You've known him for years to be certain that he is a kind young man and.. I know he deeply cares about you."
"You do?"
"Yes, I do. He told me."
