You have been through some very awkward situations, but this, by far, was the most awkward.
Shinazugawa-San walked too fast, making it difficult for you to keep up. You would try to call out to him so he would slow down, but Shinazugawa-San just pretended you weren't there and continued to walk to the Swordsmith Estate. You were getting pissed off. "Oi! I'm right here, you know!" You called out angrily, running towards him. The white-haired man turned to you with a bored look.
"So?" A tick mark appeared on your forehead.
"What do you mean by so?! Oyakata-sama asked you of all people to take me to the Swordsmith estate for a reason! And if you have any respect for him, then I'm sure you'd want to do your job more properly." You said angrily. Shinazugawa-San scoffed.
"And who do you think you are so you can go around and tell me how to do my work, sweetheart?" You crunched your nose as you glared at him.
"I'm the next Night Pillar. I'll inherit the spot from my grandmother, (L/N) Ayaka." You said coldly. "And once I get my sword, I'll make sure I shove it up your ass." Shinazugawa-San laughed out loud.
"You a pillar?! Please!" He poked your forehead, "You really can be adorable sometimes. Jeez, Kyojuro does have some unique taste in girls." You scowled at the taller white-haired man, walking away. Shinazugawa-San gave you a confused expression. "Where are you going, dumbass?"
"I'm going to the Swordsmith Estate on my own. I don't need your lousy assistance." You said walking away. Shinazugawa-San folded his arms.
"And do you even know if you're going the right way, genius?" He asked, but you ignored him, not bothering to answer him. Shinazugawa-San sighed. "You'll get lost, you know? It's not easy finding the Swordsmith Estate. It's well hidden." You mentally groaned. As much as you didn't like it, you knew the white-haired man was right. But again, why did it have to be him of all people? You turned around, glaring at him as you walked towards him once again, making Shinazugawa-San smirk, ruffling your head once you were close enough. "Like a good girl should. Now come on, the sooner we get over with this, the sooner I'll get away from you." You glared at him.
"You're such an asshole."
"Hi! I'm (L/N) (Y/N), and I'm here for my sw—" you were cut off by the man in a strange mask, standing in front of you with a wooden rectangular box in hand. The mask he wore confused you. Though he was dressed up casually, or as casual as a traditional Japanese man could be, the mask just made him look strange. If there was anything you noticed about the Swordsmith Estate, it was the fact that everyone who lived there wore a similar mask on their face. You guessed it was probably because they wanted their identities to remain hidden. But again, why hide their identities from demon slayers? You gave the masked man a confused glance.
"My name is Haganezuka." The man said, "I am the one who has forged the sword that would be used by (L/N) (Y/N)" You gave him a blank smile.
"Ah yes— I just said I am (L/N) (Y/N)." You said, chuckling nervously.
"This is the Nichirin Blade. I forged this blade." He continued speaking. You blinked.
"Can... you hear me?" Sanemi rolled his eyes, clinking his tongue.
"Tch. Once the man starts speaking he won't shut it. Just shut your mouth hole and listen." You awkwardly nodded, turning your gaze back to Haganezuka, who seemed to be unfinished with his talking.
"...The mountain the materials are from, the sunlight mountain, is bathed in sunlight all year round, never troubled by clouds or rain." You nodded as the man crouched down, causing you to feel concerned.
"Uhm, sir! There are seats right over there." You pointed at the seats not so far away from where you three stood, but Shinazugawa-San clicked his tongue in annoyance once again, reminding you that the masked man won't listen to you no matter how hard you tried. You sighed as you watched Haganezuka remove the wooden box's lid, revealing a sheathed sword. You gasped. Though its blade wasn't visible yet, you fell in love with it already. The sheath was black with a silver frame in the end where the sword was inserted, and the sword's hilt was formed to look like a normal dark circle, only to be decorated from the inside with a crescent and tiny stars, showing you the night sky. The man handed the sword to you.
"Nichirin Blade's other name is the Blade of Color Change." Said Haganezuka. "The blade changes color based on each owner." You pulled out the sword and examined the plain blade. The blade had tiny decorations on it. Although it was barely visible, it still was somehow detailed. Your eyes widened when the blade started to change color from plain silver to dark violet color. Pretty... Haganezuka gasped. "So you are a child of the night after all. Didn't look like much to me when I first saw you." Shinazugawa-San snickered as you glared at the masked man. Why does everyone like to bully me?!
"Says your mask." You muttered while attaching the sheathed sword onto your hip. You now had your jacket and your sword. You were officially a certified demon slayer. You tried your best not to start smiling like a doofus as you turned to Shinazugawa-San with a scowl. "You're gonna take me back now or what?" You asked.
"Yeah yeah, whatever. Let's go." He said as he turned around, walking away. You're eyes widened.
"Hey wait! I still didn't get to shove my sword up your ass!"
"Stop being weird, (L/N)."
"That's so cool, (Y/N)!" Senjuro gasped as you showed off your sword. You smirked proudly.
"Yeah, I know! Just imagine beating demons with this baby! I'm in love with my katana already!" You swung your blade around, causing Kyojuro to quickly put it down with a nervous smile.
"Let's not swing this around indoors, shall we?" The blond said as you raised an eyebrow.
"Come on, I'm not that clumsy." You said as Senjuro chuckled nervously.
"It's just to be safe, (Y/N)" he said, "Aniki did the same when he first got his sword and ended up ripping the curtains by accident." Kyojuro lightly bonked his younger brother's head.
"Now, Senjuro. Didn't we agree not to speak of this?" Senjuro quickly apologized as you raised an eyebrow.
"So turns out I'm not the only clumsy one around, huh?" You folded your arms as Kyojuro shook his head.
"It was by accident! I just got a little too excited!" Kyojuro exclaimed, trying to defend himself. It seemed like you weren't going to let the matter go. Senjuro decided to step in.
"H-Hey! Why not I make something for us to eat before going to bed?" Senjuro offered shyly, trying to calm things. You and Kyojuro nodded in sync. Senjuro smiled as he left for the kitchen, leaving you and Kyojuro in the living room alone. You sighed, plopping yourself onto the couch.
"I wonder when my first mission is..." you thought out loud. Kyojuro sat next to you.
"You'll get assigned sooner or later, no worries." He turned to you with a smile, "Just don't get too reckless, ok?" You nodded, nudging him playfully.
"You too... even if you were a demon slayer for years now. I don't want you dying." You laughed. Immediately, that dream of you finding Kyojuro dying suddenly came back to you, causing your laughter to slowly fade away, replaced with a sick feeling in your stomach. Yes, it was just a dream, but it still hurt you so deeply. The idea of Kyojuro dying made you feel sick. You couldn't imagine losing the man you loved. You'd be scarred very deeply.
"You ok, (Y/N)?" He asked softly, noticing how your facial expression changed from playful to gloomy. You snapped out of your thoughts, swallowing a lump in your throat as you nodded. Kyojuro wasn't convinced. He wrapped his arms around you, bringing you into a hug, and kissing your forehead. "If you ever need to talk, I'm always going to be here, ok?" You nodded once again slowly.
"Thank you..." you said, hugging your boyfriend back. You both stayed in the same position for a few minutes, embracing each other's comfort until you felt your phone buzz, causing you to pull away. You checked your phone to find that you were assigned to your first mission. You blinked.
"Wait, now?"
