Chapter 22: Goodbyes Suck

Abbie’s P.O.V.

“Abbie where are you! Everyone is here! I told them they could all stay here for tonight so you can all be together on last time!” Aunt Maggie hollered. I don’t know what was wrong with me. I should be happy that everyone was able to stay but I couldn’t even bring myself to unlock my bathroom door and go out to where everyone was. Yeah it may sound weird but as soon as I came home I went straight to my room and locked myself in my bathroom, ignoring all the banging and pleading for me to come out.

If I am acting this way before everyone leaves who knows how I am going to act afterwards. I decided I should head downstairs and spend as much time with them as possible. I looked myself over in the mirror and through on a smile before heading downstairs. “Hey everyone!” I said trying to be cheerful.

There was a chorus of hey’s and hi’s from everyone. I looked at everyone and realized a couple of people were missing. “I thought Aunt Maggie said everyone was here,” I said confused, “Where is Hayes, Nash, and Matt?”

“AAAAA!” I heard from behind me. I swear I jumped 5 feet in the air when I screamed. I turn around and there was Nash, Hayes, and Matt laughing their butts off.

“That wasn’t funny!” I said crossing my arms over my chest.

“Yes it was and people on Vine thought it was too!” Matt said in between giggles.

“I hate you guys!” I said. They all gave me a death hug that I could not escape from.

“You love us and you know it!” Hayes exclaimed.

I just smiled and everyone else joined in on the group hug. The rest of the night consisted of games, pranks, and movies. It was absolutely perfect and actually got my mind off of what was going to happen tomorrow.

*Next Day*

We are currently at the airport saying good bye to almost everyone. I was actually able to manage not crying while giving them hugs and watching them walk through the gates. Then it came time to say goodbye to Sami. We gave each other a huge hug.

“What am I going to do without you here?” I said causing her to laugh.

“I dunno what are you going to do without me here to make you do stupid stuff?” Sami said.

“I guess I will have to make do.” We burst into fits of laughter but after we calmed down we became serious.

“I will miss you,” she said.

“I will miss you too. So what is going to happen to you and Cam?” I asked.

“We are going to make a long distance thing work and visit each other often,” she said with a sad smile.

I gave her another hug and sent her Cam’s way. I was standing there watching them say good bye like the creep I am when a pair of arms snaked around my waist. I turned around and my lips were soon covered by another pair. When I pulled away and looked up my eyes met the eyes of the most amazing guy ever.

“I’m proud of you for staying strong today,” Shawn said. I leaned my head into his chest and stayed like that while watching Sami walk away. When she disappeared to where we couldn’t see her anymore we turned around and headed to the cars to go home.

Hopefully I will be able to make through these next couple of months until I can see Sami again. Who knows what will be in store for this school year? Maybe loads more of drama, kisses, and romance. It doesn’t matter to me as long as I have Shawn with me. But I can’t help but think, what if none of this ever happened?
