In the morning Eiji was already awake and making breakfast. I walked into the kitchen and smelled some of my favorite foods from Japan. Tempura, Yakitori, Gyudon, and Kare-Raisu.
"Do I smell my favorite foods from my favorite place in the world?" I asked coming into the kitchen. Sally, Evan, and Josh who were in the kitchen looked at me,
"Hey!" They yelled.
"Sorry guys. I love you guys and New York too." I said then turned to Eiji and mouthed Japan to which Eiji nodded.
"What smells good?" Ethan asked walking into the kitchen with Jeremy.
"Some traditional foods eaten in Japan. Also classic foods eaten in America like Waffles, Pancakes of all different sorts, roasted potatoes, avocado toast, a lot of cheese, and deviled and hard boiled eggs." Eiji said sounding really confident and proud.
"What foods do you eat in Japan?" Josh asked.
"You guys have had some dishes before." I said.
"I like natto." Sally said smiling.
"Blegh." I said. Eiji laughed.
"Did you make enough for everyone?" Evan asked Eiji reaching for an egg and Eiji quickly slapped his hand away.
"Furenaide kudasai!" He said. "Kono choshoku wa dare ni tottemo kanpekidearu hitsuyo ga arimasu."
"Oh boy guys he's serious. He's speaking in Japanese." I said. "He said, "Don't touch! This breakfast needs to be perfect for everybody."." I emphasized every word as I translated it for the kids.
"Ano asshu no yo ni wa kikoenai." Eiji said to me.
"Anata wa watashi ni sonoyoni kikoeta eiji." I said in a teasing manor.
"What are they saying?" Josh asked Ethan,
"Don't ask me. I don't know Japanese." He said.
"Let's call everyone in for breakfast Eiji." I said and walked into the hallway full of rooms.
"Breakfast is ready!" I screamed. All the kids came out of their rooms slowly.
"Food?" Maggie asked.
"Yes." I said nodding. "We made it. When I say we I mean Eiji did everything while I was sleeping."
"What's for breakfast?" Jack asked.
"Some traditional Japanese dishes and some classic foods everyone eats in New York or North America." Eiji said waving around a spatula.
"Nice." Peter said and walked into the dining room where Eiji was bringing trays of food.
"What foods do you eat in Japan?" Mathew asked,
"They eat a lot of seafood and noodles." I said. Mathew nodded. I sat all the kids down and passed out plates and helped them fill up their drinking cups.
"What do we start with?" Sally asked.
"Can you guys all use chopsticks?" I asked.
"No." Most of them said. Only Evan, Sally, Josh, Ethan and Jeremy said yes.
"Is it okay to use a fork for Japanese food?" Maggie asked.
"It's not traditional, but it's okay." Eiji said.
"I like to use my hands when I'm not using chopsticks." I said picking up my chopsticks. Eiji looked at me with a serious expression. He doesn't like it when I eat with my hands. I picked up the bowl of Tempura and started picking one piece out at a time and putting them on my plate.
"Aslan, save the Tempura for everyone else." Eiji tried to tell me. I kept putting Tempura on my plate until the bowl was almost empty. Eiji took it from me,
"No more for you." He said. I high-fived his forehead and he stole a piece of Tempura from my plate.
"What was the reason for that?" I asked.
"You put too much on your plate. Eat something else." Eiji said. "Have some avocado toast." He put a piece of avocado toast on my plate.
"Too much Tempura my ass." I whispered. Josh chuckled. Eiji looked at me and glanced at Josh,
"What was that Ash?" Eiji asked me.
"I didn't say anything." I said. Sally who was on the other side of me giggled. She heard me as well.
"Josh and Sally laughing says otherwise." Eiji said.
"I didn't say anything." I said trying to raise my voice an octave, but that doesn't work anymore.
"That's not gonna work on me." Eiji said. "I'll take your Tempura." I grabbed a fist full of all the tempura on the plate and ran out of the room.
"Mine!" I yelled. I ran outside and sat in the front yard waiting for Eiji to come after me. I then heard the sound of metal against one of the side doors. I stood up and walked around the short side of the mansion. I turned the corner and saw a kid that looked fourteen trying to break into the side door that we always kept locked, with a crowbar.
"Hey!" I shouted because I was some distance away, they looked at me then ran dropping the crowbar.
(Them)
"Wait!" I yelled running after him. I eventually caught up and tackled him to the ground pinning the kids wrists to the ground.
"What are you doing?" I asked passive aggressively trying not to sound mean. The teen looked scared having me kneeling on top of him.
"Uhm....nothing." He said. "Don't hurt me. Please." I stood up pulling the teenager up as well.
"Why would I?" I asked.
"You tackled me. That's never a good thing, I've been tackled too many times and it never turned out good." He said.
"I understand that." I said. "It sucks." The teen looked up at me,
"Really? Are you Aslan? The owner of this place." He asked.
"I am." I said. "Did you read the metal plague?" The teen nodded.
"Is there a problem with me staying here? That's why I was trying to break in. I didn't want to go to the front door." He said. I chuckled.
"Well I'm glad I came out here. We were actually eating breakfast. Care to join us?" I asked.
"Sure."
