(Elias's POV)

The year following Azarel kept following me around and to be honest it was nice to have someone not care about the fact that biologically I'm a girl and that the league can't afford a binder so I try hiding it with a big green coat and it usually works. Azarel just likes to be around me it seems.
And then you have the kids that do care about how I look. They do care about the big coat I wear just to hide the fact that I'm nog actually a biological guy.

They once ripped it away from me when I was walking through the alley where Midoriya would pick me up.
They almost ripped my shirt off if it wasn't for Azarel. I'd completely spaced out remembering when this happened to me before.. a similar alley but with older people. Taunting me to get up and fight before ripping everything.
"Elias. Elias!" Azarel snapped me out of it, a concerned smile crossing his lips when he noticed he'd woken me up. One of the guy's had tried punching him but he easily dodged and pushed him away.
"Oh piss off. You're not being cool you're just a jerk." That's the moment I liked Azarel most. I even felt a little blush come onto my cheeks.

"Elias you're staring again." I get snapped out of these thoughts and look up at Azarel. I try remembering where I was.. I completely zoned out. I looked around as Azarel sat back down.
"El?" My cheeks flush with red at the nickname. Toga called me that every once in a while and I don't understand why this is different.. I hear a short whistle. He's still trying to grab my attention.
I'm at Azarel's place now I remember, we're supposed to be working on a project.
"Project?" I quickly write down. Azarel nods, that charming smile still playing on his lips.
"Let's start, it's due tomorrow." It's one of the last projects before we graduate from middle school.
"Where are you going to high school?" I shrug, signing that I don't know yet. Even though it's almost the end of the year and I should've signed up by now.
"Hm.. I'm probably gonna go to UA. But if you go somewhere else I might just change my mind." Why would he?
'Why?" Azarel looks at me questioning.
"Why would you go to a different school for me? You want to become a hero right?" I was genuinely confused. Azarel just shakes his head.
"Not necessarily, it's mostly my brother that wants me to become a hero, I don't really care." I nod. Still. Why would he change that for me?

We finished the project and the next day we had to present it to the class. I hate presentations because I need other people to talk for me. We entered the class and I immediately noticed we had a substitute teacher. I hope they were informed of my condition.
The first part of the presentation went quite well, but when we were almost finished the substitute stopped Azarel from talking.
"Just a moment Mr. Takami. I'd like to hear something from your friend as well." Azarel looked at me worried.
"Ehm.. Elias can't talk, they're mute." The back talking angered the substitute and she stood up and walked towards us.
"If that was so I would've been informed of it. Now. Continue the project Mr. Midoriya." I try talking but the only thing that comes out of my mouth is a little bit of blood. Nobody sees it of course.
"I told you miss he physically can't talk that's why he wears the mask." Azarel explains. The substitute got even more angry and pulled my mask away. Only to reveal the blood dripping from my mouth.
"Speak." She orders me. I just look up to her with a blank look. She orders the same thing three more times before raising her hand to hit me. That's when Azarel jumps in between us and pushes her away.
"Ma'am you are in no position to do this." He says as he grabs my mask out of her hand and gives it back to me.
"I'm sorry." He whispers. I shrug it off. The substitute got up angrily and once again raised her arm. Dumb.. so dumb. Azarel, now livid punched her in the nose as I put my mask back on. He takes my hand and pulls me with him out the classroom. I pull myself loose and start sprinting along with him. I run past him easily, Toga had helped me with my running condition during training, her trying to stab me definitely gets me running. I let out a small whistle, which in this context means:
"Follow me"
I look back and see Azarel nod. With that I run out the building and into the nearest alley. Most people don't look there for mission students.
"Where are you taking me?" Azarel asks curiously when I stop running and let him catch up to me. I take out my phone and send him a quick text.
"My place"
Azarel hesitates.
"My brother's gonna kill me." He mutters as he follows me.
I text Midoriya to pick us up because we got in trouble at school.

(Boss) "us?"
(Elias "me and my friend.. if not we'll go to his place but I figured that we'd be better off at the hideout."

I feel Azarel breathing over my shoulder and turn to him.

(Boss) "Fine. I'll send Kurogiri over."

Azarel turns pale when he sees the text.
"You're with the league of villains?" I hesitate but nod.
"So that night when I saw you and Toga.. that wasn't a mistake, it was actually Toga?" I nod again as Kurogiri appears behind me. I glance at the portal as Midoriya steps out of it.
"Wicked." Azarel whispers. Wait what?

"What kind of trouble was it?" He asks. Azarel answers for me.
"The substitute teacher didn't believe that Elias can't talk. She tried to hit him and then I hit her." Midoriya smiles at me and gestures for me to take the mask off.
"You're Hawks's brother right?" He asks Azarel. Who nods hesitantly and grabs my arm when Midoriya gets closer to him. I look at his hands, which are now clamping around my arm. Midoriya does too. I pull my mask down and finally wipe away the blood in the corner of my mouth.
"C'mon. One tip, don't talk to Dabi." I feel a smile tug at my lips. Of course I heard about what went down between Dabi and Hawks. I hear everything.

We enter the bar area and I fall down on the couch.
"Elias, training rooms. Now, Dabi is waiting for you there." I roll my eyes and look at Azarel.
"Yes your friend can watch you two spar." I gesture for him to follow me to the training rooms and to wait there. It might not be the best idea to leave Azarel alone in a room with the guy that's trying to ruin Hawks's life but i had to change.

I whistle shortly when I enter the room.
"Hey kiddo. Who's your friend?" I look at Dabi with a blank look. When Azarel tries speaking I give him a small kick to his ankles and keep walking towards Dabi.
"Ok?" Dabi groans as I get into the regular fighting stance, pulling out a knife out of my pocket when he also gets ready.
"Ok that's not fair." He groans. You're a grown ass man and I'm 15 don't talk about things being fair between us.

After a few minutes the door opens and Eri walks in. The now ten year old girl just looks at me and Dabi fighting and starts cheering me on.
"Hey c'mon Kid why are you cheering for him?" Dabi complains.
"Because you just suck!" Eri yells back. Just at that moment I manage to push the older man to the ground and hold my knife to his throat.
"That's what I mean!" Eri yells. Azarel, who had just been watching all this quietly stand up and walks towards me. I raise an eyebrow.
"Can I try that?" He asks gesturing to the knife. I hesitate but hand it to him. With what looks like practiced ease he throws it right between one of the trainings dummies eyes.
"It's a bit heavy." He says. What he means is that it's not meant to be a throwing knife, it's made for hand to hand combat. The fact that he still got it so precisely is a wonder. I feel heat rise into my face as he walks to the dummy and pulls my knife out.
"It's still pretty good." He states. I just nod as I help Dabi up from the ground.

Midoriya also enters the room and sees us just standing around.
"I'm pretty sure this room is for training. Oh Elias, I have a new mission for you." I look up, it's been a while since I had an actual mission. The last one I got was last year when I was ordered to stay friends with Azarel, which wasn't a problem since I like being around him.
"Come here." He says, looking at Azarel, probably wondering if it was a good idea to invite him over. I walk over, on the way putting my knife back in its halter.
"I want you to go to UA. get info on heroes, the students, stuff like that." I nod hesitantly. Azarel would probably be happy if I went to UA with him.
"I already send an application. Ask Eijiro about the entrance exams. You should be trained enough for it but just to be sure." I nod. Once again looking at Azarel, who's now looking back at me.
"You two are good friends huh. Does he know about your quirk?" I shake my head. We never talked about that stuff. I don't even know what his quirk is. It probably has something to do with birds.
"Go back to training and no more distractions or your friends can't come over anymore." I nod, already making my way back to Azarel and Dabi.
"What was it?" I tap my foot on the floor, the sign for "don't worry about it"
"On then.." he mutters.
"You. Go back to the sidelines we're not done yet." Dabi says to Azarel. Who nods and runs back to stand next to Eri.

I hear them exchange a few words, which us basically Eri yelling him to stay away from her brother in what's supposed to be a threatening tone and Azarel telling her not to worry cuz he just wants to be my friend, nothing more. Why did that statement hurt though?

(A-N: the next few chapters I'm gonna go into a bit more detail about Elias and it's either gonna be in his POV or in Azarel's. Both are my OC's and any pictures I show of them come from picrew)
