"Where the hell you been?" Electra was up making her usual morning coffee when Diamant walked into the house. "You just now walking through the door like we don't have a whole ass flight to catch in an hour?"
"I was out with some friends. I lost track of time."
"Losing track of time is coming home at 3 maybe 4am. Not 7 in morning Dia. This is unacceptable behavior."
"Just cause I'm staying with you for the moment don't mean shit. You're not my mama, Elly. I'm grown as hell."
"You're only 24, I'm just tryna protect you from making all the same mistakes I made at your age."
"I'm not asking you to protect me."
"You don't have to ask. I'm your big sister, and you're my youngest sibling. It's what I'm supposed to do. It's what I'm always gonna do."
"You're so full of shit," Diamant muttered as she headed for the steps.
"Excuse me?" Electra was right on her heels.
"You heard what I said," Diamant opened up the door to the guest room. Most of her stuff was in a storage unit after moving it all out of Jamal's place, only really bringing her essentials to her sister's house.
"And how exactly am I full of shit?" She crossed her arms over her chest, standing in the doorway of the room.
"Because you love to pretend you care. You're always preaching about how much you do to protect me, but none of of it is true. It's not real. It's all performative. It's to make yourself feel better."
"You're actually delusional if you think I don't care about you Dia."
"I know you care about me, but not in the way you try and make it seem. Because if you really fucking cared about me, you'd realize how burnt out I am. You'd realize how close I am to my breaking point."
"Oh, don't be dramatic," Electra rolled her eyes.
"I'm not being dramatic," Diamant changed out of her crop top and leather skirt into a pair of leggings and tank top.
"Yes you are. Your life is perfect Dia. You have everything you need and want. So I get that you're going through shit with Jamal-"
"This isn't about fucking Jamal!" She yelled at her sister. "It's been going on for a long ass time, and I know you notice it. And instead of actually trying to help me, instead of actually listening to me, you drag me to the doctor and get them to prescribe me all types of antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and sedatives."
