Wednesday, June 9th Downtown Los Angeles
"Dia? What the hell is this?" Amelia, one of Diamant's main hairstylists, screeched when she walked in with her hair in a puff at the top of her head.
"I washed it," she picked at her very dense type 4 curls with her fingers.
"What happened to the braids I did a couple days ago for the wig you wore to the Fenty Event?"
She normally doesn't care how Diamant shows up to get her hair done, but she only had a certain amount of time to get her ready before the first scene of the music video for her song "Touchin On You"— featuring her R&B friend Destiny, and Amelia's boyfriend, Alex.
"I just said I washed my hair. So obviously I had to take the braids out," Diamant sat down in the chair directly in front of the brightly lit vanity mirror.
"Can I ask why?" Amelia held her hand on her hip. "Because I wasn't factoring in time to have to re-braid your hair and do a whole new bald cap method."
"I went to the beach last night and sand got all in my hair."
"The beach? Why the hell were you at the beach last night?"
"I went with a friend," she shrugged.
"Kiana?"
"No... a new friend," Diamant couldn't help the smile that crept across her face as she thought about Aurora. They'd just met Sunday night, but had been texting all day and even hung out every night since.
"A new friend? Since when does Diamant Harris make new friends?"
"We met a couple days ago. At the Fenty event actually. And I know I just met her, but I don't know," Diamant shrugged. "I feel like I've known her forever."
"Who is she?"
"I don't know if you know her. She owns that restaurant we love to go to all the time. Le ciel."
"Ohhhh. You talking about Aurora? Yeah she's cool as hell. I love her."
"You know her?" Diamant raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah. She's Alex's friend. Her and her girlfriend recently broke up, so we invited her out Sunday hoping that would cheer her up some."
"Hmm... that explains why it look like she ain't really wanna be there."
"She even disappeared on us half way through the night. And when I texted her she told me that it wasn't her scene and that she was heading out. I don't know why though, I had a lot of fun."
"Yeah. It was fun I guess," Diamant shrugged.
"Uhmmm..." Amelia hummed after a while of just singing along to the reggaeton music she was playing on the speaker while she did Diamant's hair.
