"You still going to see Ezekiel today too?" Aurora asked when she called to check up on how Diamant's very last minute, spur of the moment, visit to New York was going.

"I just got to his house," Dia said into the phone as she pulled her purse up on her shoulder.

"Is Dex with you?"

"No. He's back at the hotel."

"You know I feel better when Dex is around you."

"I'm in Holbrook, Long Island. I promise you ain't shit happening out here," she said as she walked up the few steps to her brother's house. "But I'm at the door now, so I'll call you back baby."

"Aight. If I don't answer that means I'm most likely on the phone with the contractors."

"Okay. I'll just talk to you later then, love you."

"Love you too babe," Aurora made a kissing sound into the phone.

Diamant reached out to ring the doorbell, and after waiting for no more than ten or fifteen seconds, she saw a woman looking through the distorted glass on the window of the door.

"Hello?" The woman, who Diamant has never laid eyes on in her life, answered the door. And she had a very thick Hispanic accent, which made it that much harder to communicate with her.

"Is my brother here?"

"What?" She raised both of her very thick, but perfectly arched, eyebrows.

"Ezekiel? My brother? Is he home?"

"Uhmmm..." she turned around, probably looking for him. "Zeke! Alguien esta en la puerta!"

"The hell you doing here?" Ezekiel finally came to the door half naked, only wearing a pair of Calvin Klein underwear.

"I gotta talk to you," Dia completely ignored the woman standing in between them.

"You couldn't have called first? Since when you just pop the fuck up?" He pulled her in and closed the door behind her.

"I was in the neighborhood," she shrugged out of her jacket and put it over the back of the bar chair before sitting down at the kitchen counter.

"We both know that's a damn lie. You ain't never just 'in the neighborhood'. So what you wanna talk about? Why you just pop up like that?"

Dia eyed the woman who was leaning across the other end of the counter, just watching her. What she wanted to talk about was a bit personal, concerning her oldest brother, Deon. And she didn't feel comfortable discussing that in front of this random woman she's never seen before in her life.
