[Two years before the start of the Killing Game, a girl is in a hospital bed. A boy her age is besides the bed.]

[Kishiko: Age 14]

Kishiko: "...Ugh. So that's what happened?"

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Y-Yeah, pretty much... Uh, how are you feeling now?"

Kishiko: "...Kinda groggy, I guess. Heheh."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Well, yeah, they had to knock you out for that surgery."

Kishiko: "Surgery, huh... Does amputation really count as surgery?"

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Uh... Probably?"

Kishiko: "...Pfft, haha! I was joking, you didn't have to answer so seriously!"

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "I... Hehe, sorry... I-It's kinda hard for me to joke around, though... I mean, you scared the hell outta me back there."

Kishiko: "Yeah... Sorry. It was stupid of me."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "...I mean... You said it, not me."

Kishiko: "Haha... Um, I really am sorry, though... That must've sucked to watch."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "It did, yeah... I thought you were gonna die."

Kishiko: "Yeah... Uh, thanks for saving me, though."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Huh? I mean, I only pulled you back on the boat and brought you back to land... The doctors did the rest of the work."

Kishiko: "What? Shut up, you totally saved me. If I went out alone I woulda been screwed."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "I mean... Y-Yeah, maybe... I'm kinda glad your parents are so strict about you going out on the boat alone."

Kishiko: "Yeah, hehe. They probably never expected a shark attack, though."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Sigh... Can you really call it a shark attack when you provoked it first?"

Kishiko: "Yeah, yeah, I get it, it's my fault..."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Er, sorry, I shouldn't have said that."

Kishiko: "Nah, you're right... Ugh. I'm really missing a leg now, aren't I...?"

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Sigh. Is it all starting to set in now?"

Kishiko: "...Kinda. Man... How am I gonna swim now?"

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "T-That's what you're concerned about?"

Kishiko: "Duh. Swimming is my life."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Sigh. Well... Your parents were talking to the doctors about that, I guess. Since you're already so famous for your diving, your parents are trying to make sure you can keep doing that."

Kishiko: "R-Really? Wait, so I can keep swimming?!"

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Well... I'm not entirely sure. But they're going to look into prosthetics."

Kishiko: "P-Prosthetics? You mean like a fake leg?"

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Yeah. I guess there's a type of prosthetic leg that's made for swimming. The doctors said they'll look into that, but... It'll probably cost a lot."

Kishiko: "H-Huh? Wait, how expensive?"

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "I... Don't know. The doctors will probably talk about it more with you and your parents. That's all I really heard."

Kishiko: "Geez... Man, that sounds cool, but... I don't want them spending too much on that kinda thing."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "I know what you mean. But... They sounded pretty hellbent on making sure you can dive again."

Kishiko: "...Do you think I can just swim with one leg?"

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Well, I dunno. You're the expert on diving, you tell me."

Kishiko: "It, uh... Probably wouldn't work out too well, actually."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Yeah, thought so. Look, I don't want to get overly involved in this decision... You should probably just talk with your parents about it.

Kishiko: "Yeah, I know..."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Sigh... Anyway. I should get going soon. I'm glad you're starting to feel better. I'll try to visit again soon."

Kishiko: "Hehe, you better! This bed's gonna be really boring..."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "Heh, I can imagine. I'll bring some comics next time I come."

Kishiko: "Oooh, hell yeah. Man, I'm really lucky to have you, huh? First you save my life, now you save me from boredom."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "C'mon, don't act like those are similar... But, uh, I'm lucky to have you too."

Kishiko: "...Pfft, you're so corny..."

Kishiko's Boyfriend: "H-Huh? C'mon, I'm trying my best, haha..."

Kishiko: "Yeah, I'm just kidding. Thanks."

[A few minutes later, after her boyfriend had left the room, Kishiko is left lost in thought.]

Kishiko: (...Prosthetic leg, huh? One made so I can keep swimming... But is it really gonna be that expensive? If it's too much, I can't just let my parents pay for that... Could I get donations from my blog or something? ...Nah, I can't do that. People love seeing those underwater photos, I can't start making them pay for them... Ugh. But if I don't get this leg, I can't keep doing those photos... And I doubt I can dive that well with one leg. Dammit... Why did I have to be so stupid? A photo with a shark would've been cool, but look at this friggin' mess I'm in now...Ugh, what do I even do...)
