The next days were busy for both. George had to divide himself between recording the songs of the new album and filming the new movie. So, he travelled with the rest of the band to Austria. Even so, the image of Rebecca followed him in those cold lands, it was a warm memory that filled his inside.
Rebecca on her side had to concentrate on the new job, which wasn't that bad, but it wasn't easy either. She had to prove she really knew how to do it, but everything was more difficult due to the misogyny of her colleagues. Their misogyny and a bit of xenophobia, being a foreigner didn't help much.
At work she only had one friend and was his boss' assistant, Joanne. They were the only two girls in the office. And she didn't mind not fitting in with men, she already passed the "being one of the boys" phase.
Luckily, Jane was lovely and quickly became her best friend. It was easy to be with her. Those days without George in her life were truly maddening. They've only been together for two days, but he'd taken a lot of weight off the strange situation which Rebecca was living.
But as the weeks passed, the image of George Harrison remained more like a brief and fleeting encounter, one that had almost been imagined. Only Jane, her beloved redhead, was the reminder of her meeting with those famous boys had been true, all seemed far away now.
Rebecca's life wasn't bad, yet every day she went to bed hoping to wake up from that weird dream and when it dawned, and she was still trapped there, pure gloominess filled her heart and mind.
She missed her bed, her things, her makeup, her Instagram, the food, her Australian Shepherd Molly, her family... everything she'd left in the future. Why'd it happened to her?
Most of the people could ask for it without having problems, who didn't want to travel to the past? Live historical events, meet people from other eras... But things in practice were not like Midnight in Paris.
Often, Rebecca wondered if she wanted all of this, albeit unconsciously. Recalling her life in the Future? Past? She never felt miserable, she was a normal girl, loved by her family, with enough friends to count them with the fingers of her hands. She had a career, a freelance job, she even had a master's degree. She had travelled outside of Mexico, she was happy... she had a happy life. She called all that? She asked for it?
On those melancholic days and during all the free time she had, Becca dedicated herself buying and reading all the books, magazines and scientific articles related to space-time, astrophysics, and physics.
She couldn't understand a single thing and there was no answer to her questions. And well, was understandable because she didn't know much about it also, many were obsolete, at the end of the day it was 1965 and still not many advances in that specific topic.
Most of the research had to be done in written sources. And every time her mind repeated the words Google and Hey Siri, she internally hit herself. It was strange and funny at the same time how life changed so much and how she depended on the internet for almost everything. Even small things like planning a fit without the help of Pinterest was hard for Becca. She missed seeing Alexa Chung's outfits.
