She walked without knowing where to go for what it felt like a long long time, almost years.
The sun hadn't set yet, it must been mid-afternoon. And it was freezing, the cold penetrate till her bones. Yet, she couldn't understand what was happening, surely a very lucid dream. Was amazing that her mind could build all that out of nowhere, this was a reminder to stop watching old movies.
In the distance she saw a park, suddenly the fatigue was showing up hitting her, she'd spent all the energy on the adrenaline of the moment and gently it began to fade. She walked to that park without knowing what to really expect, scared as ever, 'cause everything seemed too real.
Or was it real?
She was found an empty bench but preferred to sit on the grass. Somehow touching it with her hands made it feel more real, which calmed and alarmed her all at once. The sensation of the half-wet grass was what brought her back to earth, good for her it felt real, it didn't feel like a simulation. It felt like the meadow in her backyard, it smelled like so.
The girl remain spending a few minutes feeling the grass between her fingers, every now and then speeding up the touch to see if something changed, which obviously didn't happen.
Instinctively she directed one hand to her trousers pocket searching her phone, she should've it with her, she never left it behind. In the phone maybe she could find any answers.
She held her breath until she realized her pocket was empty, there was nothing in it, no phone, no wallet, no bloody gum. That made her more nervous, she had nothing.
Her eyes were now lost into infinity.
One of her hands was still in contact with the grass and the other with her bottoms, feeling the fabric under her fingers; it was a bit wrinkled.
Without paying much attention, she directed her gaze down to analyse her fit. She was wearing her flared jeans, a yellow turtleneck sleeveless blouse, a brown corduroy jacket, and white Converse. At least she kinda match up with the others, although it was informal. She remembered; whenever she used that everyone told her she looked like from the 60s.
Her mind was trying to process the whole thing, despite the weather, it was a nice cold day, but she couldn't enjoy it. Not even the view.
How she ended up there and what did all this mean? It was a joke? Had she smoked that much? Everything felt real, so real, she was overwhelmed by all the emotions it entailed.
Of course, time travel was a silly idea, besides, when she thought of all the possible scenarios she never thought of time travel. Because she knew it was impossible.
Also, why would she travel back in time? It's not like she had a machine or a gun. She'd seen too many Rick and Morty episodes and movies about it to know that those things didn't work like that. Even Cosmos said it.
She couldn't have just fall and woke up in another part of the world who knows how many years ago, that was stupid, it didn't even fit in her head.
Not that she really knew, but the few facts that she did was that if that happened it had to be quite complicated and basically anything she did would trigger a series of events that would change everything, no matter how small or big they might be.
