"Chaeyoung has been missing for over a year now."
Mina replayed what Nayeon said over dinner. Her fingers unconsciously traces her ex girlfriend's face from the polaroid she's been holding for who knows how long.
Despite the pain Chaeyoung had caused her, there is still spot on her heart that would always be soft for the latter.
She reached for her phone from the night stand, before searching about the incident.
One person is dead following a house fire in Gwangju.
Thirty firefighters responded to the blaze and crews arrived to find flames shooting out of the living room window.
The fire was quickly knocked down before firefighters found a deceased man inside one of the bedrooms.
The fire is believed to be accidental.
Mina remembered Chaeyoung's step father as a well and soft spoken person. She starts to regret looking up for the article when her mind wondered where Chaeyoung could be. She heard from Nayeon that someone saw Chaeyoung a month after the fire. And police found no records of her being admitted to any nearby hospitals. But that's the only information Nayeon got from her mom's friend who works at the station. All they know is whatever happened that day, Chaeyoung survived it.
She sighed trying to remind herself to stop thinking about her ex girlfriend. It would do her no good anyways.Remembering she opened the blinds in their living room window, she got up from her bed and walks towards the area.
Mina was about to close the blinds when she saw a figure in a hoodie from outside, pacing in front of their gate. She tried to look closely but wasn't able to get to see who it is. Her heart started to pound off her chest but then the person disappeared in no time.
She sighed in relief before closing the blinds. Something about the figure seems familiar, she just can't pinpoint how and in what part. She wasn't even sure if it's a physical trait for she didn't get to see the person. Her mind must've been playing games with her so she decided to shrug it and went back to her bed.
"Hey" She greeted after receiving the call from Nayeon. "What's up?"
"Yah! Why are you still awake?"
"Oh- I just finished cleaning the house." Mina answered. "Why are you stil up?"
"You cleaned the house? I told you, you should've just stayed here."
"I'm fine, Nayeon." she laughed. Mina then remembered the person she saw pacing a while back, but then she remembered who she's talking to.
Knowing Nayeon, she would make it a big deal and Mina would end up staying in their house. "But I'm kind of tired now."
"Oh. Okay then. Sleep well Mina-ya."
"Okay. Good night." she smiled, before hanging up.
-
Mina's ringtone blasted, making her groaned from her sleep. She brushed her eyes and tried to adjust to the beaming sunlight from outside. She looked at her phone and instantly got up seeing the time.
