A feast was what welcomed Mina's eyes upon entering the living room where she saw Chaeyoung putting plates on the table. Four soft scrambled eggs, waffles drizzled with maple syrup, bacon and four cups of coffee.
"Oh! I almost forgot." Chaeyoung said, turning back to the shelves to get something, "Ketchup!"
"What's going on?" Mina asked, brushing the sleep off her eyes. Sleep. Something she thought she wouldn't get last night. But thanks to Chaeyoung, she was able to get some.
"Good morning to you too, Mina." Tzuyu greeted, adding some whipped cream on the waffles. "Come on, sit down."
"We made breakfast!" Dahyun smiled proudly as she removes the apron she was wearing. "Well, Tzuyu mostly."
"Yah! I helped her too!" Chaeyoung protested. "I cooked the eggs."
"Yeah. That's why it's burnt!" Dahyun teased, "Let's eat, Mina. Don't worry we'll clean up after."
Mina did what she was told. Ignoring the mess the three girls made in the kitchen. Her gaze jumped from Tzuyu to Dahyun and finally to Chaeyoung who is sitting across her. All of them looks proud and satisfied at the breakfast they made. But Chaeyoung's smile grew bigger when her eyes met Mina's.
Tzuyu was about to dive in her food when Dahyun hit her hand, "Let me take a picture first! I'll send it to Momo. I'm sure she'd be jealous."
"Chaengie, today is your first session with the therapist, right?" Tzuyu asked, looking at the short girl enjoying her breakfast.
Mina almost choke on her food. She almost forgot about the therapy. Well not almost. She really forgot that it is today. She looked at Chaeyoung and see the latter nodded before going back to her food.
"Do you want us to come with you?" Dahyun asked, munching the waffles. Her words are almost impossible understand. "We can come if you want. We don't have anything planned for today."
"I- yeah-"
"No. I'll come with her." Mina interrupted, "You two need to go home with your girlfriends."
"Right." Chaeyoung smiled, she thought Mina don't feel like coming. "Mina will come with me."
"Eh. But can we stay here?" Dahyun pouted, "They don't have Nintendo at Nayeon's house."
"Please, Mina?" Tzuyu pleaded and surprisingly agreed with Dahyun. "Please?"
"Fine." Mina sighed in defeat. These kids.
"Yes!" Dahyun exclaimed, fist bumping with Tzuyu.
"But you need to go home first." Mina ordered, making the girls looked at her confused, "You need to get your clothes if you want to stay here."
"That means we can sleepover for tonight, right?" Dahyun smiled, giving Tzuyu and Chaeyoung a wink. "Then deal!"
After eating, all of them cleaned up the mess that seems to be unending. How can three adults can make so much mess? Mina asked herself but smiled seeing them enjoying it.
A little over an hour, Dahyun and Tzuyu bid their goodbyes to get some clothes in Nayeon's house. And that's Mina and Chaeyoung's cue to prepare for the latter's therapy.
Chaeyoung
When I walked out the room, all dressed up, Mina's soft smile greeted me as she waits on the living room.
I don't really know what to expect. Honestly, if it weren't for Mina, I wouldn't have the strength to go through this therapy though I know I needed it. How can I tell a stranger my feelings? When I wasn't even able to tell them to the closest person in my life? How can I tell a stranger what I feel when I, myself don't understand it.
"Sana just called." She said, standing up. "Are you ready?"
Am I? I don't know.
"I know you're not. But you have no choice." she added, laughing. Probably because she sense how tense I am. "Now come on. It's not high school, we can't be late."
When we got to the address Sana sent us, my heart starts beating faster than normal for some reasons. I hate hospitals. Something about it makes me sick. We walked to through the busy hallway until we reached the third floor of the building. It seems quiet and only few people are here.
"We're early." Mina smiled, "You want something to drink?"
I looked at the wall clock and saw that she's right. We're indeed fifteen minutes early. I followed Mina's gaze and saw a vending machine at one corner. "Yeah." I answered. She then walks towards the machine.
"Which one?" She asked.
There's a lot of drinks in this machine. It's as if it's barely used. While thinking what I want, we heard someone called Mina.
"Myoui Mina? Wow is that really you?"
When Mina and I both turn around, we were greeted by a tall girl. Half of her shoulder- length black hair is in bun, and her full bangs looks perfectly arranged. Her smile is what caught my attention. It's so big as she looks at Mina.
"Lisa-ya? Oh my God!" Mina exclaimed, pulling the tall girl in her arms. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm an attending nurse." Lisa smiled, slowly pulling away from the embrace. "How about you?"
"Oh. We just have an appointment." Mina smiled and her gaze landed on me. "Chaeng, do you remember Lisa from cheerdance?"
Cheer dance. Right. That's why she's familiar. Mina and Lisa used to co-captain in high school. How can I forget? The cheer leading team always used to throw their birthday party together.
"Y-yeah." I answered shyly, "Lisa Manoban."
"Woah. You remembered!" Lisa smiled. Again, that big smile. "So you two are still together? Going strong, huh?"
Her question caught both Mina and I off guard. I noticed how Mina's body stiffened. We're not together anymore. Right? We're just friends.. She's just helping me. It's not like she still have feelings for me after what I did to her.
"Uhm no." I answered when Mina kept quiet. "But we're still friends."
"Yeah." Mina laughed nervously, "What she said."
Her face is unreadable and it bothers me. Did I say something wrong? Thankfully, Lisa cleared her throat.
"I see. Anyways, my lunch break is almost done." Lisa said, looking at her watch. "I'm glad I bumped in to you guys. See you around."
I waved her good bye while Mina just smiled at her until we lost Lisa in our sight. Mina got two diet soda from the machine and gave me the other one. She kept quiet the whole time we wait for my name to be called.
My mind is in a whirlpool. Maybe I'm just over analysing this so I decided to shrug it.
"You co-captain with her, right?" I said, breaking the silence. "She haven't changed."
Mina glanced at me for a second and smiled, "right."
Then we went on another minutes of silence.
"Son Chaeyoung?"
The nurse called, making me get up from my seat. I was about to walk inside the room when I felt Mina gently grabbed my wrist.
"You can do this." She smiled warmly, "I'll be waiting here."
That smile put my restlessness away. Maybe I did just over analysed her silence.
"Thank you, Minari." I said before going inside the room.
I can do this. And because of Mina, I want to do this.
