Chapter 42

"Hey, Mina what's up?" Jihyo asked after picking up the call.

She stayed on the phone and waited for Mina to answer but all she can hear is thunder and the younger girl sniffing.

"Mina? Where are you? What happened?" Jihyo repeated walking closer to the window of her room.

The rain is pouring heavily. Clouds surrounding the gray sky. Jihyo finches each time the thunder comes.

"C-Chaeyoung. Is she with you, guys?" Mina mustered to speak for the first time.

"Chaeyoung?" Jihyo repeated in confusion. While still processing what Mina meant, she walked out of the room and saw Nayeon fixing her clothes while Jeongyeon wears a large grin on her face.

"What did you two do?" Jihyo asked. "Oh my God, don't tell me.."

"Shh." Nayeon shush her by putting one finger on Jihyo's lips then smirked, "I'll leave it to your imagination."

"Tsk." Jihyo rolled her eyes. "Mina is on the phone. Mina.. Are you still there?"

Nayeon walked closer to Jihyo who is now both sharing the same worried face. "What happened?" Nayeon mouthed and Jihyo just shrugged her shoulders.

"Mina, where are you?" Jihyo repeated.

"I'm in front of the hospital. I just- I just went to the bathroom but when I came back Chaeyoung was not there. She left the hospital alone." Mina answered. "She's not with you? I'm - I'm worried, she's not answering her phone. Seulgi called me to pick her up saying Chaeyoung needs us, she said to look after Chaeyoung but she's not here. She left. She's not here."

"Hey. Breathe. No. She's not with us." Jihyo responded, "Wait for us there, okay? We'll pick you up and we'll look for her."

Mina waited for her friends to come. She paced back and forth in the parking area, soaking wet from the rain. She just finished work when Seulgi asked her to pick Chaeyoung up. The latter's therapist told Mina to take closer look at the younger girl. And because it's Seulgi's duty to tell Mina if she feels Chaeyoung would put herself in danger, she told Mina what happened during their therapy. Which reminded Mina about the talk she had with Somi.

The cold breeze, the thunder and the heavy rain hitting her body didn't stop Mina from looking for the younger girl. She looked around the hospital, the parking area, the park near the hospital and even the abandoned house Chaeyoung used to live in. Despite all that, she saw no sign of Chaeyoung.

Her worry started to grew and her panic started to rise when Chaeyoung didn't answer her phone. She always answer Mina's call no matter what. She never left the house without her phone fully charged. That's when Mina knows something's wrong.

Mina cried in defeat. She can't lose Chaeyoung.

Not again.

"Mina!" she heard a voice calling her name.

"Yah!!! Do you want to get sick!!" Jihyo scolded, pulling Mina under her umbrella. "How long have you been standing here? Come on."

Mina felt weak, she just let Jihyo assist her to the car where Nayeon and Jeongyeon are waiting.

"Here. Put this on." Nayeon said, giving her own jacket to Mina who is now shivering from cold.

"We need to find her.." Mina said weakly. "She has no where to go."

"I think I know where she is." Jeongyeon said, looking at Mina.

With each careful step, comes a memory Chaeyoung had with her parents in their now burnt down house.
