Chapter 30. Phoenix

When we arrived in Phoenix, he had barely spoken to me. Dreadraid was pissed off but refused to give in on my request to kill me. He parked and cut his engine. Before I hopped out, he tightly grabbed my arm and yanked me back. "I hope you remember the deal we have. You will give birth to my child and you will marry me so you and I are tether forever! Soon or later, you have to forget about Sunstreaker. His time with you is over, you belong to me now," he sneered. "I know the deal I have made but I also hope you keep your part of the deal and bring me that shard." I yanked my arm back.

"Lack of trust," he sneered. "You started this, you don't trust me!" I snapped back and opened his door. "I have all the reason to not trust you, Skylar. You still haven't proved yourself to me. You're still thinking about my half brother," he snarled. "Are we really going to fight here and now?" I asked. "Just do whatever you need to do and return but if you try to run and I catch you, you will loose your legs," he snapped. "I am not going to run, I am going to make trouble," I said before shutting his door.

Getting that shard is really important to me. I can save Sideswipe some time but I had to hurry up. While we were driving to Phoenix, I had done some research about this lab and why it's so important to the Decepticon. This lab officially doesn't exist. Apparently, the government is not allowed to know what's going on. In the books, it's just a research lab but in fact, they have created something dangerous or are still creating it. I tried to hack the mainframe or the company and I did, I found an encrypted file called, 'project exodus' but I wasn't able to look into the file. The only option I had is to break into the lab and download the data from their computer.

Mirage told me a lot about hacking since last time I tried to hack N.E.S.T for Sunstreaker. He told me it could be handy one day and Mirage was right. Unfortunately, I don't have the advanced equipment he uses to hack difficult encrypted files. Obviously, I can't ask the Autobots for help. They're still looking for me. Although, maybe I can talk to someone and try to explain what is going on. I just don't know which Autobot will listen. They all think I have changed in a Sunstreaker 2.0. I walked up to the building. "Do you have an appointment miss?" The man behind the desk asked. "I don't..." I said. "I need to ask you to leave," he said. I looked around before I leaned closer towards. "All hail Megatron." The man looked at me before he grabbed the phone of the desk.

Ten minutes later, a man walked up to me. "How can I call you?" The man asked. "Paige," I replied. I can't tell him my real name, the change he will ask Megatron about me is too big and I don't want to reveal my true identity just yet. "Edward Warren," he said and gestured to me to follow him. We took the elevator towards the fourth floor. "Please take a seat," Edward said and pointed at the chair. "What brings you here, Paige? Megatron didn't say someone would pass by," the man said as he sat down and folded his hands.

"No, he didn't. Megatron has requested a surprise visit. To see if everything is going according to plan," I said. "A surprise visit?" he asked in disbelief. "I can call him and tell him you don't want to cooperate. I have a good friend waiting outside that doesn't mind to kill you," I said. Edward straightened his back. "I didn't say I didn't want to cooperate," Edward said. "Good. Now let's get over to business, shall we?" I asked. "Why hasn't he never talked about you?" Edward asked. "Never reveal your best pions. If you don't trust me, then make a quick phone call, I can wait and I am sure he won't be happy. He's in a very bad mood and so am I."

"What does he want?" he asked with a sigh. "A back-up of all the data, I will send it to Soundwave right away," I said. "We have done that already," Edward said. "He wants another back-up for a secret project but that's not relevant for you. You wouldn't like to disappoint Megatron, right? I mean... you have a family waiting at home. It would be a shame if I have to ask Leaserbeak to kill them, don't you think?" I asked. Edward bit his lip before moving to his desk and grabbed his phone. He made a quick phone call to his lab. "They will make a back-up. You'd like to see the lab... so you can tell Megatron everything is going according plan?" he asked.

"I would love too," I said and followed him. We passed through a few doors and halls until we finally reached the lab. "Here's they make the nano-bots," he said, pointing around. My eyes fell on all the equipment and most of it, isn't earth made. "Look good... so how's the process?" I asked to get a few things out of him. He assumed I knew everything but this was quite shocking for me to see. "Soon we are going to harvest," Edward said, tapping on a window. I looked through it and I saw humans, having upside down and connected to wires and machines. Not just one but at least fishy, maybe even more. "The nano-bots are doing their work," Edward said before looking at me. "Looks really good... I am sure Megatron will be very pleased with this."

Edward hummed and turned around to a table. "Its a secret weapon... it will kill everyone, including the Autobots. They won't even have time to realize what it is." He looked at me. "A parasite," I scoffed. "If you want to see it like that," he said and smirked. "We do need a test subject and Megatron said he has a mech in mind," he said and shrugged. I hummed, and flashed him a fake smile. A scientist walked up to him and handed me the desk. "Thank you, he'll be pleased with this," I said, looking at Edward. "

I left the building and quickened my pace as I was outside and took a last sprint towards Dreadraid. "Took you long enough," he sulked. "You are in big trouble my friend," I sulked, buckling up. He raised a brow. "You never guess what Megatron is doing," I said. I showed him the flash drive I was holding. "They are making nano-bots, able to kill Cybertronians and humans. I have seen it, they are going to harvest humans in the near future. Apparently, these nano-bots are living inside humans. Everything we need to know about project Exodus is on this flash drive. If they catch you, I am not able to help you or save," I said. Dreadraid sighed and started his engine. "Then we don't let them catch me."
