I opened to the first page and a black and white photo was there. A woman I did not recognize was dressed in a long sleek gown. A man was beside her and he looked vicious as he frowned at the picture being taken. Next to them was a little boy and what seemed to be his older sister.
"Above picture shows leading head Boss Ryan and his lovely Jade Marian." This isn't Rachel I thought with a quizzical look at the photo before reading again.
"The two leaders are also shown with their two children Rachel Lila Pollywog and Bruce Daron Pollywog."
I had to make a double take of the girl in the picture. She was Rachel! She looked like a teenager in this picture. "Rachel took on the job as Chocolates main Boss when her father and mother died in a shoot out with cops. As oldest, Rachel took on her parents roles but the new Jade had to take a suitable husband."
Before I could read the next page Greg strode on in without even bothering to nock.
"Jady what is up? Huh," he noticed the file in my hands. "Are you still at that?"
I frowned at him. "It is rude not to nock. I could have been changing you know."
He smiled at that. "Belive me i would love to see that. But that n9t why I am here. Come." He grabbed my hand and forced me along with him.
"Wait! Hey! Where are you taking me!" I attempted to struggle but Greg kept me securely in place.
We soon arrived at a familiar door I recognized as the spot I first saw Greg. "Why are we here?"
Greg did not even look at me as he squeezed my hand gently. I am so confused, why did he bring me here?
"Hello, Daughter." I whipped around just in time to see Rachel walk out of a dark corner. My eyes widden and Rachel smiled. "Don't look so shocked. I even sent Greg to get you."
"Greg," I looked back at Greg who had his back to me. His grip on my hand got tighter, and his heavy atmosphere was turned on. "What do you need?"
"I figured you were getting close to my file," Rachel said straightening her back more with her chin raised. Her mis-matched eyes starring dagers at me for the first time. "After confirming when going through your room as you slept last night."
I flinched when she said this. Could...could she have seen Greg and myself!? Rachel narrowed her eyes but the glare was for Greg. "Greg. I also happened to notice other...information. Would you like to explain or shall I take care of this myself?"
Oh no! This is my fault! Greg finally face towards us and released my hand. He stuck his hands in his front pockets and frowned at his mother. "And what if I don't explain?"
Rachel scrowled at Greg with her eyes full of rage. "As the older Jade, you are to obey me boy. Son or no son I will treat you as I do all the others."
Greg's atmosphere increased to the point where it was making me start to shake in fright. Rachel though seemed unaffected as she put on a stoic atmosphere of her own.
"You know the punishment for refusing an order, Greg. I rather not have to take you out if I can help it."
Greg grunted in response frowning deeply. "I can not stand this mother. Please release Jun." Heat flooded my face instantly. Glancing at Greg I noticed he was very serious. He...that's the first time he said my name.
"No. She has the gift of being able to read people which is perfect for a Jade. That is our job Greg. I need to give the Chocolates a stable future to survive."
"I will not stand for this."
"You what!" Rachel yelled viciously at him. Where was the sweet older woman I had met in the beginging?
"Kill me-," Greg stuttered.
"No," I screamed almost in tears. I had found the courage to speak but regretted it now. They looked at me with angered faces. I trembled slightly, attempting to hold my ground. I...I do not want Greg to die...not because of me.
"He was only helping me with the files. He fell asleep before we could finish and I was going to wake him but I also had fallen asleep soon after. Nothing more happened."
Rachel looked at me with a expression I couldn't deceifer. The three of us were silent until Rachel loosened up. "Fine. Greg. You are to stay away from Jun until the wedding is final."
Greg tightened his hands into fists. "Fine."
"Wait but-" I tried to speak up but Rachel spoke.
"Jun come. You must finish your file work by tonight so we can plan your wedding. Don't worry about Greg deary he will be fine."
I took one last look at Greg before being escorted back to my room by Rachel. I sat on my bed and began to cry slightly. First I loose my friends and family and now I am loosing Greg, why is this happening to me.
I picked up a pillow and threw at the door with all my strength. I picked up Rachel's file once more and a tear fell on the paper. I did not make a move to wipe it away as I flipped to the next page.
There was a photo of a man in khaki shorts and a blue button up who was looking at the beach. It seemed to be taken without his knowledge. Intact, the next two pages, including this one, was nothing but pictures of this man.
"Why...?" I looked down at the first paragraph and a name in bold was written first.
"Race Andrew Ruts: Due to the predicicoment of Rachel not finding a suitable husband within the Chocolates Mr. Ruts file had to be intertwined with Rachel's."
I flipped to the next page and a picture of Race and Rachel at their wedding was placed at the top. Rachel looked about twenty in the picture and she wore a devious smile. Currious I read on.
"Race was kidnapped upon the orders of Rachel who spotted Race one day while being driven to a Chocolates location to inspect. Upon the kidnapping, Race had escaped three times but was safely returned to the Main house."
This is just like me! This has happened before!?
"The marriage went smoothly and as you can see from the picture below they had two kids. William Race Ruts and Greg Zac Ruts."
My eyes immidently flew to the picture. William seemed to be holding a toy and smiling while Greg looked overly serious for a boy his age.
My heart ached as my hand touched the picture. "What is your story?"
Throwing aside Rachel and Race's file I searched the last three files for Greg and William's. Both of the files were two of the last three files. I found William's first.
His full name was printed on bold on the front. I had a sense of confusion and lonelyness come from the file I held. "Do I really have the power to know things I shouldn't about everyone?"
Running my fingers over the bold golden letters I felt my heart soften. What secrects could you hide behind that smile, Mr. Boss.
