I'm Not Scared (Leighade)

(Jade's pov)

"It's our first Halloween together as a couple!" Leigh smiled as I flopped onto the couch beside her. "What do you want to watch?"

"You can pick." I shrugged, not really caring because honestly I was just happy Leigh was beside me.

"Ah, horror movies aren't really my specialty babe, you can pick." She answered snuggling up to me automatically.

At the words 'horror movie' my heart began to beat faster and I willed it to calm down. "I just don't know any good ones bubs, let's just find a random one." I said quickly.

I hated that idea, but yeah, I barely knew of any horror movies because I barely watched them. They terrified me and I'd never told Leigh, which I was now regretting.

I sighed as Leigh eagerly sifted through movies now leaning her head on my shoulder and all I did was lean my head on hers.

"Ooh, this one looks interesting." Leigh grabbed my hand, clicking on The Conjuring.

No.

I clutched Leigh's hand slightly tighter but tried not to show how scared I was.

"Okay." I gave her a smile.

The movie started and I swear even the way the camera moved creeped me out. It was like the movie knew I'd be watching it as every scene seemed to scream: 'This is your worst nightmare Jade.' I shivered at the thought.

I was practically shaking but I was determined not to show Leigh that I was scared, so I just wrapped my arm round her waist and pressed a kiss to the top of her head, burying my head in her curls a little longer than necessary to avoid looking at the screen.

Throughout the movie I made any excuse I could to leave the room. Getting more snacks, checking the time, whatever I could think of.

But when I came back from one of my multiple fake 'toilet trips' I saw Leigh snuggled up under the blanket, wide-eyed, staring at the screen.

"Ah Jade." She mumbled, when I came back. "You missed one of the best bits." She snuggled back onto my lap, a little closer to me than before.

"You scared bubs?" I chuckled, hoping I wasn't the only one.

"No!" She protested. "Should I go back to show you the part you missed?"

"Nope!" I shouted, before I could stop myself.

She raised an eyebrow, amused. "You're not scared, are you Jadey?" She took both my hands.

"Definitely not." I shook my head defiantly. "I just want to get a good nights sleep soon."

'And I won't be able to sleep if I watch that.' I thought.

After a bit Leigh started to get sleepy, lying her head on my lap.

I stroked her hair, hoping she would fall asleep so we could both go to bed and I wouldn't have to watch this movie any longer.

Just as she was starting to drift off though, a clap of thunder sounding perfectly in time with an image on the tv and I screamed, waking her up, and making her sit up abruptly.

Then there was another clap and all the power went out. Great.

"Jade?" I heard Leigh whisper. Her hand landed on my knee.

"I'm here baby." I replied, pulling her closer to me.

She hummed and dropped her head onto my shoulder.

"Damn, we can't finish that movie now." She pouted, and even with how much I hated the film I wanted to watch it just to make Leigh happy.

"Never mind." I turned the torch on my phone on and lead us both upstairs, my hand tightly intertwined with Leigh's.

Once we were upstairs, we settled into bed.

"Were you scared of the film then Jadey?" Leigh teased softly.

"Of course not baba, you?" I returned the teasing.

"No, bubs. Don't worry."

I chuckled lightly "I love you Leighly. Nanite."

I rolled over and closed my eyes and tried to sleep but every time I closed my eyes, scenes from that movie flashed through my mind.

I needed Leigh's cuddles.

Just as I was about to crack I heard her whisper into the darkness.

"Jade? Um, I'm still not scared, but would you mind, holding me?"

I grinned and pulled her into my arms unable to stop a chuckle slipping out between my lips.

"Alright alright. Laugh it up. I'm the scaredy-cat in our relationship." Leigh pouted.

I giggled at how cute she looked. "Not at all baby. I am honestly. You actually watched the movie, I barely did. I was too scared to."

She laughed and snuggled her head into my chest. "I love you. Can we finish it tomorrow."

I hummed and thought about it. "Okay. But it's your fault if neither if us can sleep tomorrow."

"I'll just need you to hold me, then I'll be able to sleep." She smirked and I scoffed, unable to stop a laugh from slipping out from between my lips.

"I love you Leighly. Sleep well."

"Love you more Jadey. Goodnight."

"Nanite love."

I smiled, falling asleep with her content in my arms.
