Chapter 3: Kingstons' POV

As class began, I could feel someone watching me. At first I couldn't figure out who it was until I happened to glance towards the back of the room and caught a guy in the last row watching me. With a quick discrete sniff, I could tell that he was a vampire. After the fourth time feeling him watching me, I asked Lucifer "hey, any idea why that vampire keeps paying attention to us? I mean it's not like we're doing anything to draw attention to ourselves."

"Maybe he just thinks we're cute or maybe he thinks you look like a yummy steak" Lucifer teased in my mind.

"Ha ha very funny Luci but that's not helping. He's really scaring me but I'm trying my best not to show it specially with the number of unmated Alpha wolves in the room, that would be bad" I said knowing Luci would understand.

"I honestly have no idea, King. I'm just as worried as you are. We only have to get through this class. Just try to relax and ignore it." Lucifer said trying to calm me down.

"Thanks for trying to distract me though Luci. I'm going to try to focus on the lesson now" I said then went back to taking notes. The rest of the day passed without any incidents. As I was heading to my locker to get my skateboard at the end of the day, Noah and Carly found me in the hall.

"Hey man, wanna come to my house and hang out before the party later?" Noah asked as we walked towards the front doors of the building.

"Nah, I think I'm going to go lock myself in my room before I get overwhelmed with all the people later. Sorry man" I said as he unlocked his bike from the rack.

"It's okay. I understand just text me if you change your mind or if you want company" he said as we stepped off the front steps.

"Okay, I'll see you guys later then. Bye Noah, bye Carly" I said with a small wave before I put on my headphones and then taking off at a running start before jumping onto my board. As I glided through the parking lot, I passed Aaron and Marisole who were leaning against the back of his blue Toyota hatchback. I gave a small solute, which Aaron returned, and kept going. As I neared the end of the lot, I saw that vampire guy standing by a lifted red pick-up and noticed how handsome he truly was. He had long hair that has half black and half white with lightly tanned skin and beautiful bronze colored eyes that shimmered in the sunlight as he watched me pass. Not wanting the attention, I kept my head down and kept going, only relaxing when I hit the pack territorial border.

As I neared the pack house, I could see everyone in a frenzy getting everything ready for the Moons Ceremony tonight. Slowing, I jumped off my skateboard and kicked it into my left hand just as auntie came out the front door. Reaching, I took off my headphones as she said "oh hey sweetie, welcome back. How was school?"

"It was fine auntie. Do you need help with anything before I go lock myself in my room for the afternoon?" I asked. Auntie and Uncle both understood that with my condition, large group events without proper time to mentally prepare end in disaster.

"No sweetie, just make sure you eat something before you go up stairs. I'll send Noah up to get you when the party is getting ready to start" she said with a smile before hugging me.

"Thanks auntie, I'll go grab something before heading up" I said hugging her back before stepping back to head inside.

As quickly as possible, I made my way straight to the kitchen to get something to eat before heading to my room like I promised. As I left the kitchen to head up stairs, I made it to the foot of the stairs just as Aaron, Marisole, and their entourage came through the front door. Wanting to avoid any social interactions, I turned and ran up the stairs taking them two at a time until I made it to the landing in front of my door. With a sigh of relief, I opened the door and went inside. Closing it seconds before I heard foot steps on the landing and smelled Aarons scent from under the door. After a few seconds, he knocked on my door.

Opening it slightly, I asked "hey what's up?"

"Nothing, I just wanted to check on you since I saw you turn and run up here as soon as you saw us" he said rubbing the back of his head.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just want to limit social interactions as much as possible until tonight" I said honestly since he knows I get overwhelmed easily.

"Ah okay. Well I'll see you later then" he said before turning to head back downstairs to his friends.

"Okay bye" I said closing the door and locking it.

The rest of the afternoon passed without any interruptions as I watched all the preparations from my bedroom window. About an hour before the party was set to start, I started looking through my closet for something to wear when auntie opened the mind link with me to check in.

"Hey sweetie, how are you doing? You ready for this?" she asked and I could hear the smile in her voice.

"Hey auntie. Yes and no, I can't decide what to wear" I said with a shrug.

"Okay give me ten minutes to finish up here and I'll come help you" she said.

"Thank you auntie" I replied before she closed the link again. Moving towards the door, I unlocked it before moving back to the dresser to decide how to do my hair and what jewelry to wear aside from my moon pendent. Settling on my usual half ponytail, I chose a hoop for my cartilage and studs for the rest leaving them in a pile with my necklace and a hair tie on top the dresser. I wasn't surprised when my door opened seconds later as I had expected auntie to come in without knocking since she was so busy today.

"Alright sweetie, let me see" she said as she headed into my closet. Following her, I leaned on the door frame and watched as she picked out a pair of dark colored jeans and a dark blue button down shirt. Handing them too me she said "leave the top three buttons undone" before leaving my room closing the door behind her.

"Thank you auntie" I said knowing her wolf hearing would pick it up even if I didn't shout. Moving to the door, I relocked it before moving to put my clothes on the bed with a pair of underwear. Heading to the bathroom, I took a shower and began to get ready for this event despite the sense of impending doom hanging over me. Getting dressed, I tucked in my dress shirt and was lacing my belt through the loops in my jeans as I walked over to look at myself in the full length mirror. Looking at the outfit auntie had chosen, I noticed that my birth mark was visible. It's an odd geometric symbol located just under my collar bone on the left side of my chest.

"I wonder if auntie had me leave it visible on purpose" I thought as I moved back to the dresser to do my hair, put in my earrings, and draped my pendent around my neck.

Ten minutes later, I was dressed and ready to go. However, I still had to wait twenty minutes before auntie would send Noah and three other wolves to retrieve the four of us whose birthdays were today. As I thought about what we were supposed to do, I unlocked my door and went to stand in my the window to watch the crowd gathering in the back yard below.
