Chapter 6: Remingtons' POV

[at the party]

As the wolves left the pack house, I saw the wolf who had been watching me leading the procession. He looked more grown up and sexy in his dark blue button down shirt and black jeans. From that moment. I couldn't take my eyes off him. It felt like I was being drawn to him. After a few minutes, the Alpha finished speaking and everyone left the stage. Somehow in the midst of the chaos, he disappeared.

An hour later, I saw him reappear with Aaron and then he was gone again in to the crowd. After a little while, I saw him reappear standing next to the Luna talking to some people and my sister. "Oh great, this aught to be interesting" I thought as I watched them chit chat happily. Half an hour later, the Alpha called the birthday celebrants back to the stage again. It was time to start the speeches leading up to them finding their mates. As the Alpha started talking I watched and saw the second the wolf I'd been watching locked eyes with his mate. Following his line of site, I couldn't believe my eyes. "His mate is Aaron. Wow, really? So, he's supposed to be the next Luna?" I thought. As I watched the other wolves jumped off the stage heading to their mates, he disappeared again. Ten minutes later, I saw Aaron was gone too. "I guess they wanted some privacy" I thought and went to get something to eat. A few minutes later, I saw Aaron return looking unhappy. Then we heard it, the loud pain filled howl of an upset and broken wolf followed by the sound of an explosion.

"Oh no. I hope that wasn't what I think it was" I thought before scanning the crowd to find Seri and make sure she's safe. Locating her near the Luna, I decided to go see what happened. As I walk through the forest, I kept thinking "I hope he's okay" and just like that my hopes were answered as I caught a glimpse of him running away. After a few minutes more of walking, I came across something I had never seen before. The detonation site was completely frozen, telling me he lost control before running away. "I'll give him some time" I thought masking his scent before heading back to the party seconds before the Alpha, Luna, and a few warriors headed in the direction I'd just come. As I made my way towards Serenity, my phone beeped with two new messages from mom saying "[1) Just try to avoid him or at least don't confirm or deny anything] [2) you guys can come home now, it's safe]." Walking up to Seri, I said "hey Seri, mom says we can head back. I think it's a good idea since it looks like they'll be busy for a bit."

"Why what did you find out there?" she asked.

"It looks like someone lost control but I can't be certain. Now let's get home before mom and dad get worried" I said holding out my hand to her. Nodding, she took my hand and with a wave we teleported home landing in the living room.

"Hey mom, we're home" I called before heading to the kitchen.

"Hi kids. How was it? Did you guys have fun?" she asked as she washed the dishes in the sink.

"Yeah, it was. I had loads of fun with my friend Genie and the Luna" Seri smiled.

"It was alright. Watching all of them was entertaining specially the mate finding part. It was fascinating to see" I said.

"Alright, well you two head up and get showers and get ready for bed" mom said looking tired.

"Yes ma'am" we agreed in unison before turning to head to the stairs. As we climbed towards our rooms, Seri asked "brother, do you think that poor wolf we heard will be okay?"

"I don't know Seri, maybe I'll go see if I can help with the search tomorrow and maybe you can hang out with your friend again" I said as we reached her room.

"That sounds like fun. I really hope he's okay" Seri frowned.

"I'm sure he'll be fine" I said ruffling her hair before turning to head to my room.
