Walking down the corridors of the castle, dad was holding my hand leading me out the back way to send me away with auntie and uncle. As we exited the side door of one of the towers, I saw auntie and uncles carriage waiting in the courtyard. Scared, I tried to slow dad down by dragging my feet but he just picked me up and carried me the rest of the way. Holding on tight, dad carried me to the carriage and waited for mom to join us. Standing by the carriage, dad and uncle talked for a while before I felt a hand on my back and heard mom say "Remi, Remi honey you have to let go of daddy. We need you to go with auntie and uncle" followed by dad saying "it's for your own safety son. You need to go and be a good boy." Leaning back to look at dad, I whispered "but I don't wanna go. I wanna stay with you and mommy." After a few seconds, dad managed to hand me off to uncle who passed me to auntie inside the carriage. Picking up Seri, dad kissed her head and handed her to uncle before closing the door. Waving, dad told the driver to go and off we went. As the carriage left the gate, the memory shifted to the worst night of my life. Sitting at the dinner table eating, I could see the castle from the window when it suddenly erupted into red and yellow flames. Getting up, I ran outside without a word and ran towards the castle. As I ran, I could hear auntie and uncle yelling but I just ignored them and kept running until I reached the gate. Hiding just outside it, I saw my parents running towards me. Suddenly, I heard the bang of two gun shots. Then as I silently watched, I saw my parents fall to the ground and then get executed by two vampire brutes. Covering my mouth to stifle my cries, I waited until the brutes left before turning to run into the forest. Without knowing where I was going, I just kept running until I eventually ended up at the waterfall. Sitting there alone, I pulled my knees to my chest and cried.
Suddenly, someone hugged me from behind and the scent of warm honey and vanilla wrapped around me calming my mind and pulling me further into the dream making me uneasy. Then I heard a voice that couldn't possibly be here.
"Why are you so uneasy" he whispered aloud. I thought for a moment, then answered honestly "because even though I know this must be a dream, I want this to be real but if it was real you probably wouldn't be doing this even if I was crying in front of you."
"How are you sure that some part of this isn't real?" he asked still holding on tight.
"Because this is the night my parents died. No one came to me in the forest that night, in fact no one found me for two days. So you cannot possibly be real" I explained. Suddenly, he let go and then turned me to kneel facing him showing me the face of the person I thought was behind me. As I looked at his medium length black hair that was streaked with blue streaks and deep forest green eyes, he placed both hands on either side of my face and kissed me. Dumb founded, I couldn't move all I could do was stare in shock when he pulled away making him double over in laughter for a minute with his arms on my shoulders before he said "I take it that surprised you." Finding my voice again, I said "now I know this is a dream. Maybe my mind is taking the worst night of my life and trying to make it something happy but if that's the case why'd it chose you when I'm not sure how you feel about me?" Apparently, it was funny somehow because he burst out laughing again. Taking a deep breath, he said "I kiss you and you have no idea how I feel about you" before wrapping his arms around me neck and descending into laughter again. After a few minutes, he seemed to calm himself down again. Then pulling back to look at me but keeping his arms around my neck he said "what if I told you our mate bond allows us to travel into each others dreams? What if I told you, I saw and felt everything you did up until you ran into the forest that night? What if I told you I wanted to find you so I willed myself to your side and then willed my scent to wrap around you to calm you not realizing it would pull your conscious mind to where I was?"
"Wait, so you're telling me you're actually here? This isn't a dream, well it is because you're in the hospital and not my room, but you're actually aware of everything we are doing?" I asked shocked.
