??? POV
I woke up drenched in sweat.
I don't know why but I think I dreamt of something. Something good and something terrible. A Nightmare, most likely. No, most definitely.
It wouldn't have been unusual considering my current situation. But...It didn't feel like a dream.
More like memories, and the terrifying part, the thing that left me with goosebumps, wasn't that I still remembered most of it. No, it was the feeling that they weren't mine.
Seeing as I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep or stay in bed, I decided to get myself something to drink. I got out of my bed, the sheets already lying on the floor from what I assume was my earlier thrashing to fight said nightmare off. I threw on some black jeans, a dark purple top with a silver skull on it and put on my contacts.
See, I have a medium issue with seeing nearby objects, hence my problem with close combat. Normally I wear a suit and helmet, which has the necessary glass for my visor to balance out my sight. Of course, the contacts are completely purple too.
Oh yeah, let me give you a run-down on my life.
Hmmm~
To start with, I guess the most important thing to tell you is that everybody has a soulmate and you get 2 hints to find them:
1) Their favorite color stands out to you, making it easier to identify them in most cases by things such as clothing.
2) The moment you directly look into their eyes you instantly know and go: 'that's the one, the only one for me'. It's commonly referred to as a 'Zing' and from that moment on you can feel each other's emotions, including pain as though it was your own. There's also a myth that states that's it's possible to read each other's thoughts but it hadn't been confirmed this past century.A few of my friends, though their more like close colleagues, have found their soulmates already.
There are two pairs.
My closest associate's, Fon's, soulmate is Viper, also known as Mammon- the Esper of Varia. However, only he can call them by Viper. Apparently, they had zing-ed during our first group meeting. It had been quite spectacular.
Out of nowhere, there was a kind of phantom chain suddenly forming between them.
It was red from Fon's end and a pastel indigo from Mammon's, when they connected it turned magical, their 'strings' intertwining and going from one end to the other in opposite flows. The cool indigo against the warm red made it look teasing and almost playful.Since then, they've been inseparable, talking for at least 2h/ day and always knowing where the other was or what they were doing. They called each other first thing when they had a mission or when they finished one.
The funny thing is that Fon's nephew had also taken a (savage) 'interest' in an illusionist he's working with. The best part?
It was a double soulmate.
A rare occurrence where you had 2 soulmates. And they just so happened to be siblings. That was a bit weird, but they don't mind. Their not blood-related anyway. The two Hibari's had gotten teased for that relentlessly, their clan seemingly smitten with illusionists when they were brutal martial artists.
The other pair was connected by a blue chain with different shading. One a sky blue, the other more a royal blue with a slight tint to it, an indigo glow.
It reminded of a gem in different lighting. They had been student and teacher, the student having had a crush on her for ages. Finding out they were fated had probably been a dream come true for him.
Their names were Colonello, Nello for short, and Lal.That left 3 others without a soulmate - one of which still being a child. Though she had a platonic bond with Gamma, her adoptive uncle who was an active Lightning in her famiglia.
