The tapping of a keyboard had become Astrid's only friend that late night. It had been only a few hours since the hybrids found out Aurora's location but they had been shut in their room ever since, trying to work out why the red head was in the opposite town while Freya was still downstairs, tracking the vampire.

Elijah always said that one of the joys of being a vampire was that silence was their once long friend, the hybrid woman smiled as she recalled his tangents and allowed the sound of the candle flame that sat in front of the two to consume her.

Nik was lack lustre about the job, typing with his left hand as he rubbed Astrid's thigh with the other, occasionally glancing over at his wife with a small smirk.

'I don't know what you find so amusing about this.' Astrid tried to suppress a smile as she kept her eyes locked on the computer screen in front of her.

'You're pretty when you're concentrating.' Klaus smiled and Astrid facepalmed, her curls falling over her face, 'We're supposed to be finding out what your unrequited lover is doing in a swamp not flirting.'

Her smile grew as she felt her husband's hand clasp her cheek and turn her to face him, 'There's a lot better things we could be doing'

'Oh really?'

'Yes really.' He stood up, 'And that should be discussed over drinks. Back in a tick.' Klaus winked and walked away.

...

'Astrid!' Klaus almost screamed as he vamped back up to their bedroom and she leapt up in an instant as relief washed over his face, 'Thank goodness you're okay.' He took her face in his hands and quickly kissed her forehead before going to find a jacket.

'Nik? What's wrong?'

'Freya's gone.'

The hybrid's heart dropped through her stomach, 'What do you mean she's gone?'

'She must've been taken' Nik ran to get his boots as Astrid jumped into action too, 'Fittingly timed with us finding the location of someone in particular.' She grabbed a jacket as the two descended the stairs.

'I'll call Elijah.' Klaus pulled his phone out, 'What's the plan?'

Walking side by side with his love, Niklaus Mikaelson was a powerful sight in that moment as his wife replied to him.

'We can work it out on the way. All I know is that she'll die screaming for taking my sister.'
