Ophelia Rivers ' POV
" Oscar? " i asked.
" The one and only. Can you keep it a secret, though. " he replied.
" Oh my god " i covered my mouth with both my hands, dropping Brenda's diary in the process.
" Isn't your name Daniel or Damon or something like that? " i asked remembering that Zach has mentioned his name before.
" Donovan. Yes, currently my name is Donovan. I change my name once i reach a century. It's like making myself believe that i'm reborn. "
"Uhuuuh. Does Zechariah know about you ?" i asked.
" ohh, the boy that came with you ? I think he does. But not the whole story."
" I'm not quite sure if i understand" i implied for him to elaborate.
" Actually, i haven't told him anything. He's a bright boy, he must have figured it himself."
" What do you mean?"
" He can have intuitions, short term visions about the future."
" He can?"
" ohh, yes.He didn't tell you?"
" No, he didn't "
" how do you know? "
" We sympathized together while you were sleeping. Once he told me his last name , i knew right away.Simon Evans is quite a man."
" You...you..know Simon ?"
" Yes, indeed. I know every single person of Jane's family as i know all their friends.I'm immortal remember ? I have lived to know all your family.Never had the choice whatsoever. " he beamed.
" Simon can have visions too?"
" Yes. It's a gift they inherited from family genes."
Oh...That explains a lot.
Zach had said earlier he felt something unnatural, he even said he had an intuition.
Uhhh..what a stupid girl i am. How could i not notice?
" whatever it means to you, i'm sincerely sorry for what Jane had done to you.I know you probably hate her, and everyone related to her. But, anyways, I apologize for everything. " i blabbered." What for god sake are you uttering ? I don't hate you, nor do i need your apology. Yes, Jane has made a damn big mistake and i won't forgive her as long as I'm alive. And since I'm immortal, it's going to take a long while. " Oscar smiled.
I nodded awkwardly.
"Can i ask you one last question ?"
" You just did" he said.
I smiled at his wit, feeling slightly hesitant about whether to ask him or not.He said earlier i was the savior? What is that supposed to mean?
The window suddenly flew open with a loud thud on the walls. It caught both our attentions.
The curtains were flowing violently, and an extremely strong draught made its way into the room.
Shivers went down my spine, chills shot into my back, goosebumps dotted my skin. My knees were numb.
I felt a sudden attraction. My body moved instinctively towards the window, bumping my feet with the bed while doing so.
I glanced back at Oscar, he followed me, confused.
He didn't understand what was happening as much as i didn't. I abruptly stopped, right when i reached the window. The wind attacked my face, i brought my hands to it, in order to protect my eyes from the enraged air entering.
A jet black blind engulfed the village. A moonless sky stood an inky canopy of blackness, not a star freckled in it.
The sky, that just hours ago glowed and glistened with happiness, transformed into dullness and eerie stillness. It's like a sinister drape pulled down to overshadow brightness.
Night owls was the only sound to permeate the silence , i froze.
Something caught my eyes, right in the middle of darkness, a shadow was moving. The deserted road made it easier to notice the mere movement sight.I couldn't distinguish the silhouette.
Was it a man or a woman?
All i could see was a dark black cloak shining even though there was no lights outside. Not even the street lamps.
The shadow seemed to be moving further, fixating me as an aim and straying my way.
Adrenaline made my chest burning hot and an intoxicating fear possessed me.
Why does it keep following me?
The shadow's movements increased, it turned slightly, then started floating in the air.
Its cloak seemed endless, interminable. Two hands emerged from it, by both sides, and as i waited for its next move, i felt someone shaking me, disrupting me.
I looked at Oscar questioningly not bothering for any response back, then quickly returned back my gaze to the window.
But it was too late, the shadow was nowhere to be seen.It has faded as quickly as it came.
An owl omitted a screech of deafying protests and frightening howls, before taking flight and disappearing in the nought.
I couldn't help but wonder who can the shadow really be. And what could it possibly want from me.Although, the only thing I'm sure about is that this is the same shadow i saw hours ago, right before losing consciousness.
Everything got peacefully quiet once again.
Confused, i closed the window carefully, and shifted back to my earlier position when i was talking to Oscar.
This scene was one hell of a scene. It's just unforgettable. Something that the mind can't assess.
