TW: depression, car wreck, etc.

No one moved. No one talked. You would be surprised if you heard them snore. The only sound made in the ICU room was the sounds of monitors beeping, ventilators running, and the occasional sound of doctors popping in.

No one had talked to the Grey family and they didn't even know if they were in the hospital or not.

It had been a week and the kids, except for the shepherds and mark, all went to school and rode back to the hospital.

None of the took a shower for three days, they had hardly eaten.

-
The heart monitor was fine and steady, almost normal to the group of visitors from the amount of times they listened to it. But they didn't like when it sped up.

Doctors rushed in with paddles and crash carts, getting to work.

Everyone was numb. Seeing it happen so often, they didn't need to be told to get out. But they never would get used to the flatline

It all went by so fast, so quick. She was just fine. She was in a coma, but she was okay, now, she is being rushed back into surgery.

--

"Chief, Meredith Grey has gone back in surgery. There are no general surgeons on call and Dr. Creary is out sick, Sir," A resident mentioned as she got to the Chief's office.

"Tell the ones that aren't on call to get their asses over here."

"They can't, Sir."

"Why can't they?"

"Because...You fired them." The young resident was shaking and fidgeting around, looking for anything to do besides get in this intimidating position.

"I didn't fire any doctors, Creary."

"Someone did."

"Who?'

There was a knock at the door, and someone walked in.

"Hello Richard, do you need a general surgeon?"

"Ellis, you're back! Yes yes! I have a patient, she needs a surgery. Here is her chart." Right before he handed it to her, he remembered. He cant let her operate on Meredith.

He decided he would just drape the patient.

He made a phone call and told Ellis to get to work.

She wasn't technically family and she needed to help Meredith.
————
After the surgery, a resident closed up and Ellis went to tell the family about the patient.

"Family of Grey!" Ellis would have put two and two together if it weren't for the insane desire to have Richard right now. Even though he hates her at the moment.

Ellis was looking at the chart in her hands but the two families who jumped up looked at each other awkwardly.

When Ellis looked up, it was like a light bulb went off in her mind.

"That was Meredith?" She asked, somewhat shaking her head. How could her daughter be such an idiot to get hit by a car? She only knew from the chart.

"Why do you care? Is she okay?" Derek asked.

"She's my daughter, dream boat. And yes, she's fine. Bit of an idiot."

"Don't talk about my kids like that!" Carolyn demanded.

"She's my daughter!"

"No, she is ours." Christopher said and lead the family away to go see Meredith.

"You were never there, Ellis." Thatcher stated.

"You weren't either."

"But I'm sorry about it. You aren't. I want to be in her life now. I don't want to be her father. She had a great family without us. But I would like to at least see her."

"She is my daughter. I carried her."

"But they raised her," Thatcher turned towards his family, "why don't you guys go talk to the Shepherds?"

"Fine, I'll go to court," Ellis said and left.
