Slight TW

It's been five days since coming back to school.

Each day being full of stressful, on edge feelings.

But now it was a new semester. New semesters were filled with first day things.

Go over rules, again.
Slideshows.
Annoying announcements.
Drills.

Drills. Like fire drills. What comes with fire drills? Fire alarms. What comes with fire alarms? Panic attacks and heavy breathing. That's what.

What else? Oh right! Lockdown drills. You know, the drill you practice what to do if there is someone who endangers students in the building. It doesn't work by the way.

Problem was, no one but the head master knew when these would take place. They could come in five minutes. Who knows.

Mer was sitting in her first period, tapping her pencil as she waited for school to start. Her anxiety wasn't bad, still jumping when a kid drops a heavy book.

Ding ding ding.
"Good morning students! Today is the start of our third semester! Each of you know, we have various drills throughout the day planned. Teachers don't know when, only I know this. You should be going over slideshows over school rules today also. As always, believe, inspire, succeed. Have a good day."

Morning announcements most definitely weren't the favorite part of one's day.

"Ok class!"

The teacher's voice brought each student from their bored gazes.

"Unfortunately, we have to redo everything we did at the beginning of the year."

As the class groaned and whines, the teacher continued.

"I know, but we can get through it. However, that won't happen till later. Get out your text books please."

The teacher continued to chatter about endless equations and how to solve them, but Mer moved her gaze to the giant closk that hung right above the board.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

You could hear the continuous sound of the second hand as it moved in a clockwise manner.

8:50
8:50 and 1 second.
8:50 and 2 seconds.

All of a sudden, it was 9:30 and ready for second period.

How great.

Her and her friends were headed up the stairs, keeping conversations so Mer didn't panic.

However, that seemed to be useless as the annoying announcements came on.

"LOCKDOWN! TEACHERS LOCK YOUR DOORS AND FOLLOW PROCEDURES!"

Slow. Everything was turning so slow. Students running. Cristina's slow voice saying, "it's only a drill." Over again.

As they made their way through the second floor hallway in a rush, other students grabbed onto various objects. One thing being Mer's backpack.

Walking up the stairs with my friends, I feel someone yank on my backpack.

As Mer got pulled to the ground, her brain went into a panic mode, her usual anxiety attack turning into a panic attack.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

Ding. Ding. Ding.

Scream. Scream. Scream.

No one had any clue as to why students were screaming. It was only a drill and Mer would be just fine if people would be calm like they were told to be. But kids were idiots and Cristina couldn't help but roll her dark brown eyes in annoyance.
