Y/n's POV
"Morning, Detective," I greet my husband as I entered the break room to pour myself some coffee. "Where'd you go this morning?"
"I had to pick something up for you," Jay responded and held out a set of keys to me.
I gasped. "No way. Are you serious?"
Jay smiled. "Very. As soon as this case is over with, we can move into our new home." Just then, Adam walked into the breakroom, a pickle in one hand, the jar in the other, and as he put the jar into the refrigerator, he just stared at us.
"Can we help you?" I quiz.
"You guys know we all know you're doing it, right?" Adam asked.
Jay frowned. "Doing it?"
"Doing it," Adam repeated.
"Are you talking about sex? Cause I would hope you all know about that, considering we're married," I point out.
"What's up?" Kim questioned as the three of us made our way into the bullpen.
"Jay and Y/n are moving in to a new place. Tonight, I think. I'm a trained observer," Adam admitted and ate the pickle he was holding.
"I don't get why that's important. We've been living together for about 3 years now," Jay reminded everyone.
"Well, 'cause then you were just, like, doing it. Now you're doing it," Adam emphasized.
"It's the same thing," Jay claimed.
"It's most definitely not the same thing. You guys are buying your first house together," Kevin acknowledged.
"For instance, did you know that sometimes women use the medicine cabinet to store medicine?" Adam brought up.
"Well, yeah. That's what they're used for," I note.
Adam shook his head. "Jay, you're done for, man."
"Let me tell you something right now. I look around this room, you know what the first thing I think is? Here's a bunch of relationship experts," Jay teased, causing everyone in the room to crack a smile.
There had been so many relationships gone wrong in this unit it wasn't even funny. Adam had been engaged twice before Kim, then was engaged to Kim, but the two broke things off and now had an on again off again situation going on, and he also dated Hailey for a short time. Kim, alongside being with Adam, had dated her patrol partner Sean Roman, former prosecutor Matt Miller, and Blair Williams, who had been the subject of one of our investigations once he was killed. Hailey had been with her old partner Garrett Thompson, who was killed in one of Robbery Homicide's investigations, and had been with Adam after that, but the two broke up once they realized they cared for each other more as friends. Jay had gotten married in Vegas when he was younger, broke up with Abby, got together with Gabby Dawson for a bit, then he was with Erin, then me, then Erin again, and now married to me. I had been engaged to Archie Mullins, broke off our engagement, gotten together with Jay, broke up with Jay, had a fling with my old Homicide partner Johnny Novoa, before finally settling down with the love of my life, the one and only Jay Halstead. Kevin had a one night stand with Laila, an informant during one of our cases, who ended up being sent to jail, and after her he had a sort of flirty relationship with Vanessa Rojas, who, sadly, got transferred to a different unit. So yeah. I guess we weren't too good at relationships.
"So why are you guys moving to a new place anyways? What's wrong with the apartment?" Hailey implored.
"Oh. Um, Chief needs a backyard since he's so big now, Jay wanted a home office, and I wanted a bigger closet," I declare. I intentionally left out the part where Jay and I wanted to have a baby because I didn't think we were sharing that information with everyone yet. That, and until we had some official news, I didn't want to get everyone's hopes up.
