Chapter Twenty Four

Bunny pinches the bridge of his nose before he straightens up and glares at Danielle, "You've done enough damage. You need to leave and never bother this family again."

She frowns, putting a hand on her waist. "I am not-"

"LEAVE" Bunny booms again, making me flinch. His face is red and he keeps tightening his fists. His eyes then meet Calvin's with annoyance, "I really don't understand why you chose to put up with her."

Danielle looks at Calvin pleadingly as if he's going to save her and my heart makes an ugly twist. But Calvin doesn't move to help her. She scoffs and turns around to leave.

"I'll make sure she leaves," Dominic says, following after her.

The door shuts after Dominic, Bunny rubs his hand over his face. He looks Calvin dead in the eye before shaking his head.

"You have no idea what you've done." He looks at me sympathetically, "It's not going to take him long to find you now. I will make sure I do everything in my power to protect you."

Calvin groans, "Look, I was told a different story. A story that had me worried for Caroline. I want to help keep her safe too. I found your dad and let's say it wasn't a pleasant visit."

Bunny's eyes widen a little, "That's why you were all beat up last night."

I look at Calvin just as my heart starts racing again and this time because I'm scared for his safety.

"I just wanted her safe and I wanted to talk to him-" He's cut off with Bunny snorting.

"A man like him doesn't just talk."

Calvin gives a humorless laugh, "Yeah my ribs can agree."

Bunny shakes his head disapprovingly, "I'm surprised he even let you walk out alive. If you're not from the underground world, he doesn't want you to know about him and there's only one way for that to happen."

Ryan clears his throat coming into the front room, "Sorry, didn't mean to listen. I heard you guys get loud and thought maybe Dominic needed my help. But can I add that I have a really good PI guy."

"Has to be good enough for underground." Bunny straightens up and he looks hopeful.

Ryan smiles big, "Of course he is."

"He can team up with mine." Calvin chimes in.

After Ryan talked more about his PI guy, both Bunny and Calvin started giving him information to send for Investigation. I went and found the twins with Cassie and I didn't really talk much even though they fired a million questions.

I tried to explain what had happened but I didn't have the energy to keep the pretenses of enjoying myself. I'm scared and worried about not only my safety but Calvin and Bunny's as well.

Finally, about an hour later, Calvin pulled me away and tucked me in his car, and drove us to his place. I didn't question him or complain. I'd rather prefer the peace and quiet from his penthouse than mine.

He helped me out of my dress and gave me one of his black shirts to sleep in. I was grateful for that because although I have clothes here from the times we use to spend the weekend here, I don't think I have pajamas here.

I went under the covers after washing the makeup off my face, while he went into his en-suite to shower. I missed being here... with him. Everything he's said makes sense. He never once lied to me. He just didn't want to let me know for my safety. I hate that he was also feeling hurt when I'd question him about Danielle and I'd turn him away.
