The twins came over to the office since I texted them that I was ending things with Ian today.
"Why won't you just tell Calvin that you broke up with Ian after you actually break up with him?" Ruth asks raising an eyebrow.
"Just so he doesn't think about it all day. He wants to be with me and thinks I'm still interested in Ian." I shrug, "I guess I'm also excited to tell him."
Roux chuckles, "Yeah, a little too excited. Are you sure you thought about the whole cheating on Danielle thing?"
I shrug, "He said he wasn't happy and he wants to be happy. If we get together I guess it's just going to be something we're going to have to talk about."
Ruth shrugs like it's no problem, "Why not?"
Roux frowns at her, "What do you mean?"
Ruth looks back and forth at us, finally setting her eyes on Roux as if she needed to understand this, "Caroline has been wanting to be with him for a long time. If he says he's willing to change and give it a shot. Then why not? He obviously knew he was no good to her cheating. That's why he never perused her after she told him off on their second date." She looks directly at me, "I know I talk so much shit about him, Caroline. But, if you think this is what's best for you then do it. If it doesn't work out at least you'll know that you finally did what you wanted to do for so long."
Roux looks at her in shock, "That's the sweetest thing I've heard you say in so long."
That warmed my heart. She wasn't judging me for breaking up with her cousin or for trying to get with someone she didn't think was good for me. I really am lucky to have these girls in my life.
Once they left, I got back to work and my morning seemed to fly by. I almost about jumped on my feet when it was lunchtime. I had a plan and it was to tell Calvin as soon as possible. Preferably in person just in case he wanted to put his lips on me again. I go into the elevator up to the top floor.
I see a male assistant at the front. I thought I spoke to a woman last night. He looks maybe about early twenties. Dark hair and brown eyes. He looks up and smiles at me politely.
"Hello, what can I help you with?"
"I'm here to speak with Calvin. Is he busy?" I ask nervously.
"Can I get your name?" He asks as it seems he was pulling something up on his computer.
"Caroline Lewis." Maybe it wasn't the best idea if I came. What if I wasn't on his list.
"Perfect." He looks up at me smiling, "He's not busy. He's just having lunch."
I give him a thankful smile and my hands start getting sweaty as I near his door. Impatiently I open the door and I wish I hadn't come up. This was bad.
His eyes were wide and he looks scared, "Hey." He says softly. I should've knocked.
Danielle scoffs sitting at the seat across from him and my heart crashes into my chest when he doesn't tell her anything.
"Er...-I just came by to see if you wanted to go get some lunch, but..." I trail off because obviously they both had a bowl of salad in front of them and it was a perfect excuse for me to come up with on the spot.
